Thanks for all the info Geno! I really appreciate it. The rims will be going on my 70 T/A and it has a similar suspension set up to your 72. I don't want to roll my wheel well lips but from the sounds of it I should be okay.
Thanks again for helping me out!

One thing I've found when trying to max size is that the sidewall buldge may contact the spring when the tire squirms around corners. Something to note... .

I do have a factory disc brake rear end from a 79 TA- there is still at least 3/4"-1" clearance from the sidewall to the wheelwell hump. And the 18 x 9 wheel with the 5.25" backspace still has at least another 3/4" before the outer sidewall is flush with the outer wheel lip (my wheel lips are cut/rolled). A 305/35R18 may be too much to fit properly without sticking out of the wheelwell, but there's plenty of room for a 295/35R18. Once I get my rims I'll look at them and see if it's possible to split them to get widened. US Mags does offer the Bandit in a 18 x 10 2-piece forged design, but at $600/each it's strictly for hardcore Pro-Tourers. I also plan to go with big brakes front and rear (Wilwood), so I'll live with 18 x 9's and 275/40R18s all around until my brake and rear end upgrades are done. Geno |

My lips are rolled too, so I may be able to do the 305s.
I'd like to try these on the driver, but it has the C6 calipers on it, and on the front, there needs to be enough clearance to clear the caliper. I have Centerlines on it now, tried an ARE wheel, and it didn't clear. Shoot, the Centerlines are close, like about 1/8" max. The driver is due for a set of wheels, not sure how I'm, going to approach that one yet. If you upgrade your brakes, make sure you get the Wilwood templates and check clearances. .

Can someone provide the caliper measurement as outlined in the attached pic for the 17x9 and the 18x9s please?
EDIT: Guess it would help if I attached the pic! .

Anybody have a picture of a set of big inch Rally IIs on a 67 or 68 Bird?

Not my Bird but a makes a strong argument for YO rally IIs on a 1st gen Bird. They're heavier than US mag Bandits and more expensive, but do look good.

Yeh that is the one negative about the YOs . I noticed a decrease in braking performance due to the weight . The YOs with 275/40/17 were 8 lbs heavier than 275/50/15 with 15x8 wheel vintiques rallye 2 Steelies.

It is the silver blueish looking center section. Even the US Mags in black look more like a Rally II to me.

I know Argent Silver. The YO R2's are not Argent Silver.

I think the CAD designer just did a bad job modeling the wheel for the CNC machine, the original RallyII has some subtle curves to its design and the YO ones just look straight, flat and very squared, I think the US Mag Bandits do a better job to get the curves right

The space in between the spokes is too open, they are black and not grey and they are too shiny like chrome. I just don't think they look right. Just my opinion. I prefer the year one ralley 2

The wheels have a shipped weight of 30 lbs. each.. Not sure what a 15 x 7 Rally II weighs in comparison, but the wheel/tire combo didn't seem too bad given the size of rubber going on the car.
