Ok. Here's what I thought, and believe verified, by looking at my car and parts. The GTO trunk lip trim is stainless steel. The windshield, and rear window, trim is stainless steel. The drip rail, and post car side window, trim is aluminum. My spare Tempest trunk trim is definitely aluminum. See pics...

I personally power buffed all of the stainless trim when the car was painted. I was very nervous while buffing the trunk trim. You need to apply quite a bit of pressure to get stainless to shine. That trunk trim is very small!

I thought all along we were talking about a GTO, not Tempest. Seems they are different. My bad.

It's a Tempest. I know the GTO and LeMans are stainless. The Tempest???

I believe the trim piece referred to is the one above the rear tail light assembly as shown in the factory dealers sales manual below.

It's in the same place as the GTO and LeMans trim piece. Why this one would be aluminum vs stainless I don't understand.

Not true. Look at the pics that I posted. The GTO/LeMans trim is at the very bottom of the trunk lip. The Tempest trim runs across the raised ridge in the middle of the vertical panel.

I don't see why not. Been sitting around since 1985. Lol! IDK how the hell to ship it safely though. Cardboard tube maybe? Tape it to a board?

It does have at least one dent in it as I recall. Not terrible though. Also needs replated or stripped and polished. You can strip anodized aluminum parts with EZ-Off oven cleaner. Then polish and clear coat.

Yes and yes. The cardboard tube needs to be thick enough so it won't collapse. The board inside the tube prevents damage if the tube does collapse.

Maybe a good option would be to just use the GTO trim?

Sorry, I stand corrected.

My '64 Pontiac Dealers Sales Manual drawing didn't provide a close enough look at the exact location of the trim location and it appeared to me to be in the same location.

He could. The trim is located to be a continuation of the tail light lines though.

you ship it in a PVC pipe 4 inch packed with newspaper. If you have that trim and it’s not badly dented inbox me a price

Just to give all of you a good visual of the aluminum Tempest trim pieces here are some pictures of the back of my ‘64 Tempest. There are six pieces, three on the top and three on the bottom that all line up with the chromed potmetal taillight bezels.

You can clearly see that the stainless steel Le Mans/GTO trim that mounts at the very bottom edge of the trunk lid wouldn’t be the least bit useable on a Tempest.

I just realized from looking at those pics that I have the top trim but I don’t have the lower. It’s 5 pieces does anyone have it

It’s not 5 pieces it’s only three one on the fuel door and one on each side. I just need the pieces beside the fuel door

Just FYI the post office totally destroyed my molding even packaged perfectly in a cardboard box. They broke a 62 inch long tube almost in half and managed to twist the trim. I was lucky I had a spare and that time I sent it in PVC packed slam full of old magazines. Arrived with no damage

I found them. AMD took them off when they welded in my tail panel and just put them in the box
