My guess is that the owner added it at some point. It is a piece of metal. I also believe that he replaced the radiator and added the shroud as I don't see HD cooling listed on the build sheet. The car currently has a 4 row radiator with shroud and has had some different mounts put on fan guard.

Thanks, I see them now.

Were you asking me for some parts?

trying..........not...to....buy............parts.. ........

Photos should be on their way in the next day or so. It has been raining here so I have not had her out much, but did get under the hood cleaned and the inside almost done. Crazy amount of dirt in the carpet. The inside, underside and under the hood are crazy cool to clean up. The paint is not perfect, has scratches, chips, a few dents and I would call it a 10 footer from that aspect............but still no rust found and this car does appear to be original paint from what I can tell. I am going to have someone that does detail work for some high end cars do the buffing on this one.

Question about wheels/tires. The end game is going to be to sell the car. That may come sooner that I thought but is likely to happen w/in a years time. Feel free to vote for one of the following.

1. Original style Bias Ply tires on the original rims
2. Radial 15" tires on the original rims
3. Rally II wheels and Radials

You could always go nuts and add 8 lugs... ;-) I wouldn't put bias plys on anything I plan on driving with any regularity though.

My vote is Rally II wheels and radials as that's what I've always done, but radials with the original rims are good looking too.

If the entire point is to sell it, keep it as original as possible and keep the cost down as much as possible. Customized things will only hurt value.

I'd keep the original wheels and caps with radial tires.

I have not put any paint on this car, only cleaned the dirt and grease up.........that is it!!!

Obvious things wrong are the radiator likely was upgraded to a 4 core, shroud and a reservoir??? What else are you guys seeing? Is that upper radiator hose OE?? It came with new GM Gates belts. Any info on CDI Plug wires? Are these OE, there is no date stamp on them??

Feel free to pick it apart, I am welcoming it as I would like to change anything that you guys see is wrong.

Also, took the car to a local cruise in today with my 8 and 5 year old boys. It was great, lots of questions and attention on the car, kids had a blast!! Tomorrow the car is going to a very good detail guy to have the paint buffed. I have not used him before, but know of him and have seen the work that he does. He charges $150-250 depending on how much work it takes. That includes any sanding to get rid of orange peal and so on. Hell, I had $100 in compounds and pads on the 66 I just did.

It's amazing how a car can survive all those years in such good condition. I wonder if the master cylinder/booster have been replaced, they look very clean - on the other hand, considering how nice everything else is maybe they are original. Any idea what the sticker was on the firewall above the heater box?

There is a little piece of tape on the finger guard that has the dates the coolant was changed, my best guess on the tape on the firewall is that he logged other items there. I will be removing that tape, but it is not wanting to come off easy.

Preservation-worthy stuff here!

Love the pics - thanks!

Quick "detail-guy" comment: I wouldn't go cheap on the detail job. Sensitize him that this is probably a one of a kind survivor. If he burns thru the lacquer paint it will really hurt value. If he does so, lawsuits will follow. In other words, "Can you handle this, buff-boy?"

lol

This guy knows what he is doing. He is well known in the area, just that his prices are very reasonable. I have seen the work he does and have several references on him. I searched him out .................but yes, we already had the conversation about burn through and such.

Amazing survivor. Have never seen one in such good original shape.
That wagon has been garaged all its life. That is rare due to their size.

Cars from further out west are just as rust free but the paint and interiors are often torched. Worth every bit of $7500 because you cannot bring a cheaper one up to the same level for the difference. The only thing different I would have done is put taller radials on.

Got the car back from being buffed out. Turned out great. Paint is not perfect, but what do you expect from a 48 year old car!! The corner in this pic is the worst of it. On the edge are several scratches. I should be able to get all around pics tomorrow.

Also got the hub caps back on her!!!!

If you click on any of the pics, it will take you to the photobucket account. There are over 200 photos to look at if you wish. I will be cleaning the underside of the car shortly, just got busy with the family lately.

Default Great pictures ....Question for anyone ...

I looked at your Photo Bucket ...great stuff thanks. I'm making copies so I'll have pictures of a virtually "new" 67 SW to help when I get to my 67 Bonne SW. My Question for all is (I have not looked into this yet):

Option code 664 Fully Transistorized Regulator shows N.A. w/Air Cond ....

Anyone know why this was the case ...? Interesting ...

My 63 Bonne SW has TI Regulator and Points and car has A/C ...ordered that way ...will have to do some reading. I know the TI was redesigned a bit and called Capacitive Discharge in 67.

Thanks, Bruce
