My current engine is a 462 with an 8/71 with 11 pounds of boost and 150 shot of nitrous through 2 plates...it’s fast for 3890 lbs but still way weaker than I want...

Back to this thread...my engine builder is wanting to use a 4” stroke because of the boost aspect. Right now looking at 4.28 bore...anyone running a combo like this? Goal is around 1800 hp on methanol...

Mine has a 4" stroke and 4.35" bore. Running around 12# of boost at one-to-one on the blower, IIRC. My heads flow 400+ cfm, however. Jim

Granted it will be higher maintenance but 30-40 is no big deal... you guys need to step out of the Pontiac world from time to time...
If the heads are good material and he keeps an eye on the tune i.e exhaust temps and bearing spread.... it can last...but yes, higher maintenance...ta/FC cars are running 60psi of boost... granted, that is a solid head...but he can get 1800hp and live.. 69Goat... dont let anyone tell you you can't! KRE told me I couldn't do what I did with the DirtyBird.... so I proceeded to stomp their asses for 3 years until I sold the car... |

You wont be dissapointed.... I'm guessing he will deliver over 400cfm with incredable low and mid lift numbers...

George.... I get it, you are a bracket racer! He can run that kind of boost and live... yes! It will involve maintenance.... but that what people do with all brands when pushing the limits....
I know you like to go to the track, drink your diet soda, grill out and sit on your ass between rounds but that is what you like.... others want to push it and challenge theirselves.... I wouldn't run that kind of boost on carbs like you have but mechanical injection....all day long. |

When I go racing it’s normally a 3 day race.......double digit passes that’s with a 1,200-1,300 hp every pass......who else does that? It’s like what Mr. Goodwrench sezs......”you either pay me now or pay me later (at the track)”, I’d rather pay now (before I get to the strip) then pay later (at the strip)! When I get back from a race I unload my car and put it on the hoist. Then before I go to my next 3 day race I take my engines diaper off, drain my oil, remove my oil pan (two piece pan) clean the pan and look see at the rids and whatever else I can see, put it back together put the good oil back in. Then I take my carbs apart and clean them, pull the spark plugs out and then re-lash the valves. That’s so when I get to the track I’m able to drink my diet pop, sit by the fire and tip a few beers and only put fuel in my car and check the air pressure on my tires......I like it that way!
1,800 hp........lots of luck......just saying! GTO George Last edited by GTOGEORGE; 07-23-2018 at 10:56 PM. |

Do you tell KRE "good luck with that" when they are trying to go fast? My point is , dont discourage someone that has a goal that is doable even if it isn't for you... |

4.00" stroke, 4.250" bore for a centrifugal. It all depends on what you want and when you want it. Let the blower do the work not the engine.
A turbo is different and is not a simple answer. Need to do more math...lol |

Easy....seriously I’m the only one that works on my car! Ask 69goat what parts he is using blower, header size, camshaft, etc.) then get back with me. I’m not discouraging him but is a bit of a reach for a street car! GTO GEORGE |
