Drove the ‘63 LeMans to the gas station to get gas for my Mercury, as I had just drained the 5 year old gas out of it.

Going to wash it, insure it, register it and start driving it again.
Might even go crazy and buy a car cover for it, it’s a garage queen that never sits outside.

It’s a .875 I got from GM years ago. I thought about upgrading to a 1” since I have a big sway bar on the front but it’ll have to wait until my bank account recovers from this swap.

Drove my ‘64 Le Mans convertible with its new 421 HO out on the road for the first time in over a decade.
Still needs plenty of work but it’s running, stopping, all the lights are working along with the power windows and the convertible top is operational for the first time since I bought this Le Mans in 1997. I’m pretty stoked. So I drove 2 Pontiac convertibles today, 22 and 60 years old.

I fixed my typo. I need better reading glasses it seems.
Anyway I put most of the interior back together until my Legendary upholstery in the original Saddle color arrives hopefully at the end of this year. I plan on driving it this summer and finishing up the air conditioning and heater assembly when the seal kit that’s currently on back order arrives. The original seat belts cleaned up nicely after a long soak in some Woolite and later some Simple Green and several rounds of scrubbing. Cleaning them up was quite the process as they were filthy. All of the interior courtesy lamps are working including the console compartment lamp so it’s all coming together nicely.

I would not - the rear bar design is problematic to begin with - a heavier bar makes it worse.

Bought a brand new Holley Street Dominator....the downside was the guy wouldn't ship and I had to drive 3 hrs one way to get it.

Took both convertibles out for a spin last night.
Actually only intended on driving the ‘64 but had an issue with the brakes dragging so I let them cool off at a local park about 3-1/2 miles from my home. I’m suspecting I adjusted the pedal pushrod a bit too tight so I’m going to rectify that today. After about a half hour I went back home and grabbed the ‘02 WS6 Trans Am to meet up a group of my VW friends. I’m parked next to my friend who owns a ‘71 Squareback with a ‘99 Corvette LS1 swapped in. Beautiful spring evening where everyone hung out in T-shirts, by 10pm when I left it was only in the mid-60s.

I drove the ’70 Tempest to the F.A.S.T. Race at Martin US-131 Motorsports Park today 65 miles there, raced it, then drive back home. The last time I drove to a track and raced a car (my ’70 RAIV Judge), then drove back was in 1985 at the 1st Supercar Showdown at Beechbend Raceway near Bowling Green, Kentucky (1000 miles round trip). Dan trailered his ’71 401 Javelin but, unfortunately, it was plagued with Autolite 4100 carb gremlins (it typically runs in the 12.80 @ 106 mph range). The weather was cool (63) and dry, but with a headwind out of the north of 5 – 15 mph. This was a last minute decision to go, so we promptly forgot our carb kits with all the secondary metering rods & jets, spark plugs, and the corresponding 13/16” socket (could of sworn it was in there…!). So, the spark plugs (AC-R45S) that were in it for the dyno session back in 2019 stayed in it. I didn’t even touch the timing, but did check it…38 degrees, dwell was fine. The DA was around 1300’ despite the cool temps.
We were just there for the day and the Tempest ran a best of 13.15 at 102.79 mph into a 15 mph headwind. Ran a 13.20 earlier. It only turns 4800 rpm through the traps with the 3.42 gears. It really needs some 3.73’s or 3.90’s. The TH400 upshifts automatically at 5600 rpm. Dennis |

Installed the new driveshaft which is the last piece of the puzzle for my rear diff swap project. Took more time and more money than expected, but don't most car projects? Ran in the new gears on jack stands as per the break in instructions and no alarm bells went off. I'll get it out on the road tomorrow and see if I need to adjust the pinion angle any more.
