I am installing the Sniper with the Hyperspark system as you are reading this and all I can say is boy what a lot of wires. I am installing with the help of my nephew an engineer, the full 70 something page sniper manual and Holley’s YouTube videos. I am doing the most professional install I can do but there is one thing that I am pretty upset about. I had a beautiful engine compartment and now with all this crap it’s wrecked haha. I could just dump all this crap behind the motor and hope for the best but I am trying to follow the guidance of keeping certain wires isolated etc. I hope to start it this Saturday but it’s my youngest daughters 6th birthday party so I don’t know if I’ll have time. If I don’t get it done I should have it done by next weekend. I will say this, I really am not pleased with the way this looks (I thought the hydroboost was bad) so I went to Summit and started a cart and $1530.17 buys me EVERY damn piece I need including a brawler carb to carb this thing, that even includes a non EFI fuel tank, if I have any of the horror stories of chasing RFI or dead injectors, bad sensors, etc then this thing will be for sale. Ironically my nephew works at Bosch in the oxygen sensor dept so I at least have that covered LOL. In all seriousness my nephew assures me it’s worth it

You think that's a lot of wires, try a multiport system install! Heheh! And even more wires if you have a 4L80e trans! I have Drive by Wire too!
Wires can be hidden, but it obviously requires additional effort. Mine do go behind the engine, and on the firewall below the steering column & shaft. You can go behind the fender, and thru the firewall there, totally unseen. Some wires from the front of engine go under the intake. Where it goes under the column/shaft, since it's above and kind of close to a header tube, I wrapped it with heat barrier wrap. Wish I would have gotten the black stuff, but it's still pretty hidden. .

If you decide to do a carb there is no reason to get rid of the EFI fuel tank. Just install a universal bypass regulator like the Aeromotive 13301 or Trickflow TFS-27001 (they are the same regulator but Trickflow saves you about $50) and run the high pressure pump with a carb. This will solve any potential fuel starvation issues assuming you use the right size fuel line. I did this with my Q-Jet prior to going with the Sniper.

With an EFI pump, and bypass regulator with a carb, you have to run 1/2" line for both feed & return, or the return won't bypass enough (can't get psi down far enough for carb).

This post is just to show that the sniper works. It took me HOURS to set it up and to get it to run right and I don’t trust it. $1500 and you can buy the unit, the distributor, and the CDI box. It’s a complete matched Holley hyperspark set. I can’t hide all those wires and they wrecked the way my engine compartment looks. I had to move them all over to not get RFI interference and to get it to run well.

Right now you're fixated on the wiring. Put a big air cleaner on it and forget about it.

I really don’t like it. There are wires going everywhere in my clean engine compartment and even with the looms I’m just not good at hiding stuff. Gonna go back to a double pumper as soon as I can unload this it has about 20 minutes run time on it.

All it takes is patience and some extra wire. If you're expecting to be able to neatly tuck the wires for these systems just with the harness they supply, it'll never happen. There's not enough wire length.
Now that you know it works, go get spools of the same size and color wiring and extend the wires enough to get them in a loom around the edges of the engine compartment and under fenders etc. Trust me, doing that type of stuff isn't my forte either and while I had my system functional and somewhat put together for a long while, I set out to clean everything up nicely last year. It took me a long weekend to improve the functionality and look of my engine bay is all.

To be honest I have gone over the top with just about everything on this car. The one thing I do know is I wish I had carbureted it from the beginning. I am just more comfortable with it, I trust it more,. You can teach a old dog certain tricks but not all. I wish I knew of a good Quadranet

You really didn't give it a chance. Wires and routing can be changed. EFI fixed all kinds of Carburetor problems.

I know I didn't give it a chance and I will tell you why, I was apprehensive to start with. I dont think its a good idea to go into something that you are not 100% sure you want. I am comfortable with a carburetor. Will it perform better? Probably not. Will it get as good a gas mileage? Probably not. Will it give me a warm fuzzy knowing that its rebuildable by me and that its reliability has been proven for over a century now, yes. I have read both sides of the argument. I know only people post on forums offering reviews are the people who had wonderful or terrible experiences but there seems to be a lot of terrible experiences with the Sniper. In fact Fitech seems to have a much better success rate. I dont feel that the aftermarket has caught up to the standard necessary to say that I trust it on a cross country drive which we plan.

Quick question- is this the same Sniper you got several years back - like 2017?
