Have you found a source for interior panels?

No. Haven't got that far yet. It had interiors on the doors when I got them. They were rough, but Rob seemed to think they could be revamped.

And after some work by these two "wild and crazy guys" they started to look more like this:
These pieces were the worst spots of rust and half eaten away areas. So Steve did the welding and Rob did the filling, sanding and blocking... looking much better than they did before!

And here are the other larger spots getting filled, blocked and sanded.

Here is what my engine looked like the day we picked it up. This past weekend I worked to get it ready to pull out with a cherry picker. I removed the front nose clip, the air cleaner and filter, front fan shield, the radiator, the radiator hoses, the alternator, the front pulley assemply and the fan itself. I also removed all hoses to and from the heater core, and removed the feul pump and laid it to the side. I removed the passenger side hood hinge and the fender since I have the new ones. I also removed the plug wires and distributor cap. Still need to disconnect the braking lines.

Here are the final pics of the hood compartment from multiple views. y right arm and shoulder ached the next two days. Amazing how many little bolts and things there were to find and disconnect.

This weekend we hope to get up there to remove the engine. All we need to do is disconnect the transmission, the engine mounts and the brake lines. Yeah... that's all...

FINALLY!!!! Worked on car yesterday. Got rear deck lid and bumper removed. Steve helped by cutting the bolts on the inner bumper out so my car lost 100 pounds of rusting steel! They also took the inner cross bars out of the doors, which is another 50 pounds per side. She's on a diet and she isn't even painted yet!
Bought a new rear deck lid, front bumper and both windshield and rear window from Paul at F.A.S.T. Those were the last two pieces of outer body that I needed to get. I already have a hood and the fenders are finished except for a little bit more work blocking them by Rob. Plan is to cut out exhaust and disconnect engine and transmission next weekend. Then the shell can be brought back here for me to finish stripping and prepping for paint. Rob has finally made up his mind and the rear quarters are going to be fixed instead of replaced with skins. The rears are really not that rotted after all and really it's the driver side which is the worse off. The wheel well and the lower panel is pretty rotted, but a little welding will fix that faster and easier than replacing with half skins. So hopefully by late May, we'll have it back here at the house and be replacing the suspension pieces prior to completing the prep for paint.

high rustie and rob. i like the 74's alot.
there was one near me,74 GTO, orange (red?) with 4 speed. i asked the guy driving about it and he laughed and said "its my kids car". (his kid is obviously cooler than him.) this car had flares on the fenders. i hate plastic parts and hate the flares on the 70's firebirds and camaros BUT... they really looked good on this car!! made it look wider and alot tougher. maybe you have seen these on a 74? definately worth checking out. i am curious what "sprint" means?... 6cyl? i've seen tempests or lemans with this name added also. one guy told me his 66 lemans had the sprint nose on it. what does that mean? anyway; great to see this car being brought back to life. shaker would be cool. rob...did she like cars or did you turn her on to them? hopefully i'll meet a lady that shares my interest in cars someday. (right.) |

There are quite a few people here on the forum that are religious to that car. People with those cars refer to them as Cammers because of the overhead cam. I know one PY member who has a bunch of those motors lying around. |

Do you have an estimate, or plan, when you want it to be finished?
Looking good that car is going to be so nice once it is done.

Car should be painted by the end of this year and drivable by next spring provided she doesn't give me anymore lip....
Would be working on it now but waiting for this nasty hot weather to break and school to start back up.

You going back with the original green w/ dayglo green stripe? Personally, I like the color combo and I don't think I've seen one wearing those colors since the 70's.

Definitely staying with the original color (Verdoro Green and the dayglo stripes). Going to stick with the Sprint decals and put a GTO hood on it, but not the GTO decals. At least that is what I have decided... I don't know what Rob is thinking.
With soccer and football and school and wedding... I don't know if this will really get much of any work done on it until October. Have a busy next two months ahead of us.

Put yourself as a missing person on a milk carton, hide in the garage and you have two months of tinkering time
