Beautiful work. If you don't mind I'll make mention of something I ran into with the X system. Check to see if your X pipe may be too far back by jacking up the chassis with driveshaft installed. With the rear end hanging see if the drive shaft lays on the X pipe.

Looks good, was wondering what happened as I had not seen an update.

Today's progress.. not as much as I had hoped... see my posts on my yoke situation. The radiator and core support turned out ok though.

This weekend's progress. Finally got the driveshaft figured out. Installed power steering pump and alternator assemblies. Attached downpipes to the rest if the exhaust system. Ran temporary wiring to starter alternator, and mocked up core support and Radiator. Getting closer to breaking in the cam.

You are really doing this 66 right, Johnny. Even though we don't always say so, we appreciate the updates and really enjoy seeing your progress. She will be a beaut when you're finished.

Thank you Eric! Appreciate the compliments. I'm trying to do the best I can with what time and money I have. By no means is she perfect, or concours correct, but should be pretty nice when done. 🙂

Well, other than a coolant leak at the intake crossover that I fully expected (repop aluminum Ram Air IV/HO manifold is kinda junk) everything seemed to go smoothly. Got the cam broke in lastnight, first time Dad's old motor had run in over a quarter century. Have some valve train noise, but other than that I'm stoked! I literally touched nothing but the idle adjustment screw to hold it steady at 2 grand for the break-in, and then adjusted it back out to about 900 rpm to listen to her idle for a couple minutes. Hopefully I'll get to tinker next weekend, set the timing and the such.

Changed the oil, wired up an electric auxiliary fan and set the timing yesterday afternoon. Had a couple small fuel and coolant leaks I sealed up. I can't figure out why I am not get any voltage through any ballast resistor I run, so i bypass it. I am by no means an electrician, but seems pretty simple. I'm sure its something simple I'm missing, any suggestions are very welcomed. I seem to have an exhaust leak at the center exhaust ports and RA manifold on the left side, thought it was a valve train tick at first, but you can feel a slight puff coming out at the head/manifold. Can't seem to load vids here, so I'll link to my FB again. Overall I'm stoked! Happy Holidays everyone!!!

So, in case you all missed it... just as I was ready to start welding 3 quarter panels together, I randomly found these... npd in Michigan had them in stock, 1 of each side at each location, im about an hour from their Michigan store.. they swapped out the one quarter I hadn't cut yet, even though I bought it over a year ago.. I think I'm the first to buy from them. I'll keep you posted.

...aaaand here's what I did have going on,.. I would've never been happy knowing these quarters were so Frankensteined together... although, I must say, I had things lining up pretty good for try to make 1 good quarter out of three pieces lol.

Quarter to door alignment and gap looks pretty good, bodylines are very workable. I have seen much worse on OE panels we get on late model vehicles on a daily basis at work, foreign and domestic, so overall I am very pleased. Definitely not perfect, but what is? These will definitely save me a ton of welding and mud work, and just be a much overall nicer repair. Sorry for the sideways pictures, still haven't figured that out.

Very interesting. I've always heard that full '66 quarters were in the works, but I have never actually seen physical proof that they existed. How well does the rear trim on the corner fit the shape of the new quarter?

I'll have to check it and get back to you. I was up at NPD the weekend if the fourth, asked the gentlemen who sold me some parts if there was any word on a release of the 66 Quarters, then I called Ames... no word.. so I started surgery on the right side. I literally stumbled across them by accident on Dynacorn's site. Thankfully NPD was cool and let me swap the left side I bought a year ago.
