I think Steve C had issues with the bushed ones too.

Still say some of it is due to the profiles, you have to pick one that is easy on parts, or listed as 'street' or 'street/strip' grinds.

I didn't have any issues with the Crower HIPPOs, but again, my grind was a 'street/strip' grind. It had lower spring psi requirements than 'race' ones.

I've posted the grind info here before, can probably search it. I pulled it at @90k miles, sold it to someone here, they drove on it for a while, and think they sold it to someone else who is running it now.

Here it is:

https://www.crower.com/camshafts/pon...-cam-284r.html

But I had it cut on a 114 LSA. Think it actually worked out to 113.5, because of the grind/lobes, but you get the idea. Totally streetable, and when it says 'radical midrange', they aren't kidding. Peak HP is 7000rpm, redline 7500, and I can attest, it went past that. Many times.

I had one Crower lifter fail but it had needle bearings. I sent the rest back to Crower and had them rebuilt with bushings and bought another to replace the bad lifter. First solid roller lifter failure in 20 years.
They had 5200 miles on them. Spring pressure was ok.

Isky lifters are Morels.

To comment on JLMounce' post, I believe what he's saying is you run the plunger down, back off, then adjust as normal. That cycles the plunger full sweep, and should clear any debris from the body. Should.

Hm, looks like the LS lifters are made in partnership with Johnson Michigan:

"ISKY has partnered with Johnson® Lifters of Taylor, Michigan (the
premier Hydraulic-Roller Lifter manufacturer in the country) to offer
the “Best on the Planet” HPxTM Series. The absolute Highest
Quality, Hi-Performance Hydraulic Rollers available today for the following engine applications"

http://www.iskycams.com/downloads/ISKY-LS1Lifters.pdf

Maybe they use the same process/supplier for others.

Tore this motor down some more and cam, lifters and rockers all have to be replaced. Going to lift the motor and pull the pan, already witnessed some damage to a counterweight towards the rear of the motor. I'm hoping the lifter wheel got munched with the oil pan baffle and the damage is superficial.

What a disaster, come to find out he's only got about 3500 miles on the motor.

Ended up pulling the drive train and dropping the pan. Long block spared and I did test a number of valve springs, all were spot on in spec for the Manley 22407's.
