Really thought it was 1976 for both. Even the Schmidts Bicentennial beer cans in S&TB made me think so.. maybe that was SLAP SHOT.

Sorry, I discovered Playboy, beer and Pontiacs about the same time Star Wars came out. They had my attention back then.

Question Another theory about Luke - courtesy of my son the geek

Evidently, there is either a Facebook post or a Tweet from Mark Hamill where he was holding up a sign that says "I am NOT Kylo Ren."

I really bothered him, so he started thinking............and came up with the following:

Since we all pretty much assume that the Sith (Kylo Ren) is the bad guy in this one let's follow that logic trail a little further.

Darth Vader was the bad guy in the early Episodes - but he wasn't THE bad guy. That was the Evil Emperor Palpatine.

So, what if the Sith Kylo Ren is the bad guy in this episode - but he isn't THE bad guy? Could if possibly be that THE #1 bad guy is Luke and that HE is controlling Kylo Ren?

Remember, Luke never finished his training. Yoda warned Luke that not finishing the training would be dangerous and would make Luke vulnerable to the Dark Side.

Luke killed his father AND the Emperor, so if there was some sort of 'absorption' of the Dark Side force by Luke due to the two killings, and if Yoda was right about Luke's vulnerability to the Dark Side, then Luke might just be REALLY EVIL.

Luke's Dark tendencies plus Vader's plus Palpatines..............that's ALOT of DARK Side!!

BIG time Star Wars fan here - HUGE! Never got much into Episodes 1, 2 or 3, but really dig Episodes 4, 5 and 6.

A good buddy of mine and myself even took the day off of work and saw Episode 4 (the original Star Wars release) twice on the very day it was released in 1977. Saw the first showing, went and ate some lunch and attended the third showing at the same theater.

REALLY looking forward to Episode 7 in December!

Kurt - that's some impressive work! Must be fun to get out with those droids.

I was taken in by the 501st at Skywalker Ranch a few months ago. Their suits and costumes were something else!

Continued the SW theme on our pumpkin this year.

Also a big fan. Just received the complete Blue Ray box set of the first six via Amazon Prime yesterday. Plan to re-watch the whole saga between now and the release of VII, The Force Awakens.

Kudos to Disney, Mark Hamill, and J.J. Abrams.

The Force is with him! Star Wars fan dying of rare cancer gains final wish as Disney provides early screening of sci-fi saga

The Force was strong for a terminally ill cancer patient who was granted his dying wish on Thursday of an early screening of the upcoming Star Wars film.

Daniel Fleetwood, 32, watched an unedited version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens after receiving a call from director JJ Abrams, his wife Ashley said in a Facebook posting.

'To all our wonderful supporters, friends, family and awesome strangers: Daniels final dream was just granted!!!,' Ashley wrote.

Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true, in the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!,' she posted.

Disney Studio executives arrived at Daniel's home in Houston, Texas and the unedited version was screened on their own television. Ashley said the film was played from Disney's equipment and they had to sign a confidentiality agreement.

The film's director JJ Abrams also called Daniel before the screening, Ashley said.

Daniel and his friend launched the Force For Daniel campaign recently to urge an early screening that quickly went viral.

Star Wars legend Mark Hamill backed the online campaign and took to Twitter after learning that Daniel's last wish had been granted.

'I just read this and am elated for Daniel & his family! Thanks to the powers-that-be for making his dream come true,' tweeted the actor who will reprise his role of Luke Skywalker for the sequel.

New franchise star John Boyega and Peter Mayhew, who famously wears the Chewbacca costume, also lended their support for an early screening on social media.

Daniel has the rare connective tissue cancer spindle cell sarcoma, and was told in July he had just two months to live.

He has been a lover of the iconic science fiction franchise since he was around eight-years-old, and his local newspaper even ran a story 12 years ago on him camping out to see Star Wars III: Revenge Of The Sith.

Ashley in her Facebook posting thanked the film's director and studio representatives for the screening.

'Lastly I want to thank ALL the amazing people who helped make this happen, thank you beyond words!!! May the force be with you all smile ‪#‎forcefordaniel‬ !!!!, ' she wrote.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18 in the US.

My uncle used to live in Riverside, Iowa. Most know the significance of that town...
