Default Stripping old paint off hard plastics

Is there such a thing as a paint stripper that is safe to use on hard plastics? Like kick panels, seat backs, bucket seat trim, etc.... Anyone had success using anything else? Thanks!

Check with your local auto paint supply store. They make a stripper that is safe for use on today's rubber/impact bumpers. That may work for you, too....
Oven cleaner will remove paint, too but I don't know what it would do to plastic trim parts like you're talking about. Maybe try a small hidden area and watch....

I've had success with Purple Power.

I would first test to see if the existing finish is soluble. Take a rag and lacquer thinner and rub it on the finish. If it rubs off, it is soluble. Meaning, it will come off with solvent. Keep wiping it off with that. If not, it is most likely catalyzed. Just leave it on and refinish over it. You should not need to use stripper, especially on soft plastics. If you use some sort of stripper, be very careful not leave it on the hard plastic too long. It can absorb and hold it at a minimum, melt it at worse.
Be very careful and test on an area that won't piss you off if it doesn't work.

Mr. Muscle oven cleaner has been used for years on plastics like collectable toys. Try some in an area you won't see first.

The purple stuff degreaser works great on hard plastic and won't harm the plastic. I used it for removing all the factory argent and silver paint on my 72 Firebird grills. You have to fully emerse it for over a day and it floats away the old paint in sheets.

I'm going to have to strip my 'bird kick panels and rear trim panels, eventually. Not sure fully immersing them is an option.

Are we talking full strength?
