Actually, I'd be shocked if there were more '68s on the road than '69s, even though there were more '68s produced half a century ago.

As a 1968 owner, I have noticed more 1969's at car shows, 1968's rarely show up

There are parts I like about both years but the 68 was my first GTO and I sought it for distinctive reasons.
I liked that it blended the new & the old in one cohesive package. The vent windows, non-cockpit dash and dash mounted ignition were still there while the endura bumper & coke bottle styling were all new. It was a vehicle in transition and completely representative of the country at the time with the old barely hanging on to the new movement. Make mine voodoo green over black and add some round ports & 4:33's. ....and the 68 pulls ahead in the voting!

I see nice 68s for sale on a regular basis. Nice 4-speed 69's are like hens teeth.

69RA,
Well, are we only comparing nice 4spd '69s to any condition '68 or what? If it's strictly apples to apples and with all due respect, I stand by my estimate that the '69 is more popular and that there are more of them being driven today. Out of curiosity that you may be correct and I'm just out of touch, I just did a search on ebay for '68 and '69 GTOs only. I got 21 69s to 6 68s. I did not compare 4spds to autos, converts to hardtops or anything else. Just strictly the number of cars for sale.

I have no facts or data but it seems that 68 stays in the family longer..... they don't seem to be sold and sold like the 69

Interesting notion .... I am second owner of my factory 4-speed 69. Car was special ordered from a now defunct dealership a few miles from here and has spent it's whole life within a full gas tank's drive from it's Baltimore birthplace.

69 all the way..for me it feels more modern than 68. Like no vent wing windows and Astro ventilation. Also prefer floating tail lights.. By the way mine went down the road today for the first time since May 2012 it was frikin awsome

68 did really good I thought 69 would have blown them away. Even knowing I am a 68 fan. I guess the Hype for 69 is not that big any more. Way to 68 guys
