So let's just say you have an extra engine and transmission laying around (I have at least 3). You could put it in this Pontiac. V8 Vegas were a big deal back in the day. 75 Pontiac Astra with 31K original miles at $5K BIN in Virginia.

58 Bonneville tri-power in CA at $5K reserve not met BIN at $9500. Super cool car, but it's missing too much. You would have to have a parts car to go with it. Prolly an upside-down ROI.

Stripes are funny but I gotta tell you, I like that red GTO. No problem with the steelies either.

68 GTO green bean at NR $23K in Minnesota. What a difference a stock air cleaner and standard alternator would make. Rare 8 track is cool. Wonder how Meat Loaf sounds on it? Note that it's Meat Loaf, and not Meatloaf.

I pulled the AC off both of my '68s fairly early in ownership. I can't tell you Cammer.

I see what you're saying about the clutch appearance though. I seem to have a vague memory of two manufacturers for the AC?

Shows to be a #s matching YZ code HO , with 3.23 peg-leg
Strange about the immediate relist.

I like the clean look of that AC clutch cover , but can't say for sure I have ever seen one before.
It must just snap into the front cavity.

I did notice in the description that a new compressor was mentioned. Might be as you say, some type of cover for that open clutch pulley. Definitely cleans up the appearance a little bit.
That's pretty strong money for a '68.

It seemed like all the coin for its condition. (good condition)
Plus a % fee to BaT , and transport cost.

Hope they didn't buy it thinking to make money on it.

69 Firebird 400 at $47K BIN in Illinois. The paint looks awesome on this car. I'm not going to dig in hard on the aftermarket mods, but the more stock it looks, the higher it'll sell for. No engine pics on this one???

69 GTO 4-speed convertible with Ram Air at $37K with the reserve not met in Massachusetts. Love the red interior. This car is amazing and even has a factory 8 track. Looks to be NM, but no docs posted. You don't see many uber rare hen's teeth cars like this one often. My guess would be that whoever did the frame off on this, prolly lost money.

Who are these people who upload screenshots to eBay? It's more effort than uploading an actual photo.
