Resurrecting this thread for a moment.

After perusing all the posts, I'm still a bit confused.

If you guys were ordering a set of non-correct 2 ga. battery cables from the "Extreme Battery Cable" guys ... what lengths would you order for a 68 if you want to use the RA cable routing? (down by oil pan)

From reading this thread I came up with NEG - 27"
But I'm not clear on the POS length.

Thanks

The positive cable on my car, minus the connectors, is 41". 43" with the connectors.

Mine is about 50 to 55 in. Best estimate with it being installed. I think I mentioned before that I made mine a little longer so that when I drop the starter it gives me some slack and also because of the somewhat circuitous route I took to get it back there.
Cut yourself a piece of 14 gauge, run it where you want it then see how long it is.

The reproduction positive I have on mine now is 43" center to center ... it appeared that with a quick test that I could still run it underneath and have enough length ... in fact I think going underneath is actually a shorter route.

The reason I ask rather than just measuring and having one made is that I thought maybe if I get it the OEM length I'd have the option to run it on the RA low road .. or the correct high road route for my non RA car.

M&H told me that their repro RA cables measure:
  • Negative = 27"
  • Positive = 42"

FWIW...I bought 1 gauge versions of both from batterycablesusa.com for a total of $40.81 (including shipping).

Excellent ... I think that will work for me.

Yep ... same place that sells the extreme cables ... can't beat their prices. I like correct but jeez, the price you pay for that spring ring terminal on the repop cables is huge.
