Here are my 17's on a 65. For me its all about proportion, not to big, not to small, but just right. Now where is that little blond girl at?

Looks damn tough & stable...now for some corner carving and gear banging...cool,.
nothing wrong with 17+ wheels on older rides...setting up the ride height helps too.

Default my thoughts

IMO

don't like anything bigger than 16" on a muscle car

If you're going with 20s, may as well put coffee can mufflers (like a Honda) and a big Aluminum wing too. Sorry, they just look Ghetto to me.

edit:

I don't mean 17s or 18s being ghetto....I don't like them, but they are tolerable.....but 20s.......ghetto

18" front and rear and this car looks bad a$$! Tuck them in like this one, and give it a similar stance and it too will look bas a$$...do nothing with the suspension or take any effort to tuck them in and it will look like hammered dog sh!t.
Big Red....Druel! (chin-wiping action while saying)

I like the look of the wheel you originally picked, think it looks great! As for size, agree with other posters, it's all about proportion. Personally, I feel 18s are as big as you want to go, BUT, with 17s, you get a much wider tire selection (width, aspect ratio, every season, etc).

Remember, it's YOUR car, so it has to please YOU! Don't particularly listen to what others say, it's opinion, and though contructive, it's not YOUR opinion.

Wheels are tough to choose, which is why I generally try to choose less expensive ones. That way, in 3 - 5 years, if I want, I can change them. On the T/A, I've gone from 15, 16, 17, and now 18, since I've owned the car....

Let me add: On black cars, the black-and-chrome, or black-chrome-smoked/charcoal ques look great....

Im using 13" corvette brakes that require 17" or larger wheels...im 28 and building my 1st car-67 lemans. I don't have my wheels yet but i think 17s in the front with 245-4517s and 17s with 255 55 17s or 18s.
i like craming large wheels tastfully...and funtionally in the cars, i plan on driving the car and mabey road coarsing it alil.
I too hate to big of wheels... 20+ on older cars...that have to be lifted to fit. But when your haulling all the stereo equipment...drugs...hoes... you have to lift the car way up so it wont bottom out!!!hahaha

Tho on original concours cars dogdish on steelies and red lines look great! my project is your currently rolling on slots and i like the look...tho they wont fit my brake app.

What kind of wheels are those? Do they come with those Pontiac center caps? How wide are they?

Is the front end stock height? How do those tires fit when you make tight U-turns?

What did they do to the ride quality?

Junkyard - Those are ROH RT wheels on KCTurbo's '65, and a couple people have adapted the center piece, looks good in my opinion. I have those (18s) on my T/A now, and will also do the centers....
