I swapped rears in my 72 Lemans a couple years ago... can't remember exactly how we done it... I think it took 2 people... one workin the jack and the other keeping it stable. once we got it high enough (car was just sittin on jack stands) we connected the suspension.
Wasn't to awful difficult, but we used ALL brand new suspension components... Anyway, good luck. Can't wait til you find out bout the Vibration issues!

I did mine with the rear frame rails on jack stands, dragged the rear over to the lower control arms which were touching the ground, and 'flopped' the lower brackets onto the lower control arm mounting point. Push the bolts through, shimmy the jack under the center of it, and jack it until you can line up the upper arms.
New bushings & arms can be a pita, Things tend to be a tight fit. Patience. .

Thanks!!! I think that I will try to find a spotter/helper. I do not have the budget for all new bushings. I don't think mine are that bad. The bushings in the 3.23 rear are in a little better shape than in the car now.

I've seen the upper bolts work loose when they're not new, maybe use some lock-tite on the nuts. Check them after a few miles too. Anti-seize the bolt shafts on all, can even do the bushing faces if you want. Next time you do it (drop the rear), you will thank yourself you did!
You can do it without a spotter, I do, but if you can get one, great. Tipping/tilting the rear to put the first upper arm bolt through is a little bit of a juggle with one person, since you have to tilt the rear with one hand, basically. You can do it though. .

I was going to use my 8$ Harbor Freight moving dolly to slide the rear into the car. then use a jack to get the bolt started. I will antiseize them. I usually do. Especially with exhaust bolts.

2.56's to 3.23's.....
My brother came down and helped me swap out the rear. Nice and EASY with AIR tools!!! New grade 8's in all of the bolt locations. 2.56's to 3.23's..... Right rear tire is a tad sore!!!!
Haven't had the car up to speed long enough to see if the vibration is there or gone. Will try when not pouring rain!!!! I will say this, the 50$ rear that I put in today is quieter than the one that I took OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! More to come when the weather is better. I will have a new video as well.. Dave

sweet man! glad you got it done!
I have been trying to track down a vibration issue on my Lemans all summer... I just got the driveshaft shortened and rebalanced, and drove it one time... at first I thought the vibration was gone, but then it seemed like I started feeling it again after I "beat" on it alittle... vibration or not, this car is a blast to drive, with the new motor.
