Looking for tires for my Catalina. My friend at the tire shop is having no luck finding this size. What are you guys using?
Thanks.

Coker.

Cooper used to make a trendsetter se in that size but it was discontinued about 5 years ago.

The closest you'll find in a 'mainstream' brand these days is a 215-75R14.

The tallest tire I could find in Sweden for my car, without ruining myself, was Hankook 215/75-14

Tire is over an inch shorter than a 75 series

A 225-70 is shorter than stock, but they will still work - I ran them on my '61 Catalina back in 1976, but that was mainly because my brother in law gave me a set of well used Firestone Wide Ovals for free.

All I could find too is the 215/75/14. I bought a set and put them on. The look good but they are coming off and now I need to find a 225/75/15 which from what I find is a popular trailer tire size.

The 215/75r14 appears too small on my 62 G-P, compared to the 225/70-14 that i am now using. I have 4 new hercules 215/75-14's for sale.

Thanks for the replies. Just looking through the Jeg's catalog, they have a 225 70 R 14, its By BF Goodrich, a redline tire. What is the difference between a 225 70 and a 225 75?

225/70 should be 26.4". OEM was 27.6" - 27.9" if it was a 8.50 or 8.55x14. 8.25x14 was 27.4

215/75x14 at 26.7" is only slightly taller than a 225/70x14 at 26.4"

I had 225/70x14 on all of mine and they looked too short so I went 225/70x15 at 28" on the 61 when Firehawks were available in that size and 235/60x16 Michelin Primacys on the 63. Deadhead bought my 66.

According to their website, the tallest 14" tire they offer is a 215/75.

UGH! didn't expect this.. guess I could always go to the 15" BOP eight lugs, surely don't want to spend 2000.00 for a set of tires though.

I CONTINUE to beat on Coker's door to produce a reproduction 8.55x14 U.S. Royal 1" white-wall. U.S.-built Pontiacs did NOT use Goodrich Silvertown tires in the '60s. Yet, that's ALL they have.

Fact is a 225-75 radial is as close as you'll get to the 8.50 (or 8.55) - 14s of old.

I'm rolling in 215-70-14 Hangooks and I am eager to use something U.S. made.

My advice is, try to find new old stock tires from small town tire shops and hoard 'em.

I sent Calli tire an info request...

~~~
Hello, regarding this item: http://callitw.com/index.php?route=p...product_id=114
Where are they made?
What is the warranty on them?
With the 1" whitewall, can I specify WHERE the whitewall goes (distance from the rim edge)?
Do you offer a quantity discount?
Thank you for answering ALL of these questions.
...we'll see what the Cali 'dudes' say...
