Car wash
What are you guys using to wash your car? I’ve been avoiding it because of my perfect finish LOL but now pollen has taken over and it has to be done. Don’t want to strip any of the wax or anything he put on it off, just want to clean it up.

This is like asking who makes the best engine oil.
My opinion is Meguiars Gold Class. I use a dip brush on a broom handle Carrand 93111. Amazon has it. The soap lubes and the brush doesn't scratch because when you dip into the bucket it won't hold dirt. Broom handle makes it easy and fast.

Spray on car wash.
I’ve been using spray on car wash for over 20yrs. It’s perfect for dust and pollen.
Various brands are available, Griots chemical guys Aero cosmetics etc. Follow the instructions and always use micro fiber cloths. Of course if the car looks like you’ve been mud bogging or covered with road salt Drag out the hose and bucket. |

I never washed any of my Muslcahs. ..With a bucket and hose. Why put more water on your car(RUST). I use Griots Garage Soapless car wash ,in a spray bottle. Works great !

Ditto on avoiding water unless it’s absolutely necessary. Spray detailers work fine on dust, pollen and those puddle splashes on the fenders. Water is not a friend of the vintage car.

Before you wash or wax, ask your body/paint guy how long you should wait before you do. You can ask what his recommendations are too.
Some painters suggest you don't wax for first 3 mo or longer. As for washing, I usually use the Maguire's Deep Crystal Clear or Gold Class. I drive my cars, in just about all kinds of weather, so I'm not afraid to get it wet. I also take many rust proof precautions too, there basically is not one bare metal surface that CAN rust. When you think about it, your car gets 'wet' on very humid days, so why not use water? .

Waterless washes and detail spray is really only for touch-ups or in situations you can't wash it. Or at least that's my opinion.

If you live on a dirt road..then I can see putting a hose and more water on your classic.

I do road trips, go to the beach for a week, camping on weekends, out of state shows/gatherings, and even just around town. It rains. Roads can be wet. Roads can even be gravel. It's a car. Enjoy it.

I use Megs gold class and am happy with it.
Most important thing is to have one of those grates that sit in the bottom of the bucket to keep dirt from getting on the sponge. I also use a sponge that allows the dirt to filter out like the green one that comes in this kit. https://www.chemicalguys.com/all-sea...eady%20To%20Go! |

I use my car in all sorts of weather, and it is not unusual that it starts raing while driving.
what i do is: 1. pressure wash of loose dust/dirt 2. pressurewasher with foamcannon (thick foam) and let it work for 1 minute or 2 Do Not Let It Dry! 3.pressure wash of the foam 4. use a noodle mit presoaked in cars shampoo (meguier's etc) and with just the weigth of your hand and noodle mit gently go over the whole car. 5. Pressure wash off all soap/foam 6. do not let your car air dry , use a dedicated drying towel, i would suggest Gyeon silk dryer towel. -> you are now ready to drive, if you wish to add wax/selant i would go over the car with Gyeon Q2M prep, then lay down your protection for max results and longer lasting protection. I migth be a bit nuts when it comes to washing.

I use a local spray booth and utilize just the high pressure soap and rinse. Since my car doesn't ever get incredibly dirty, that typically does the trick. I use the water sheeting method to dry the car as much as possible than use an Absorber to spot dry the rest.
If the car was built and sprayed properly, there's no reason it can't have water and some soap on it. If you don't have a local spray booth, or you prefer not to use one, the two bucket method with a microfiber wash mitt is my preferred method.

Another vote for Meguiar's Gold Class. We have very hard water in the desert, so I rinse with water from our RO system (no spots). Dry with The Absorber.

I wash my cars very little unless I have to. But, I don't drive in the rain. There are times I pick up the road splash from a wet spot though. When I do wash, I've used Armor All car wash concentrate soap and a bucket with mitt. I like a gentle spray, enough to do the job. I don't like the thought of a pressure wash at all. The after wash/dry will eventually allow car to thoroughly dry. If garaged anyway. Not like when these cars were built and sat outside getting moisture all the time. I think of road mud, leaves, etc. building up and holding the moisture allowing rust to live and eat.
