Anyway, that always floored me how close they ran. It would seem to me any decent dual system would be good enough for the street. Off topic but have you ever seen Engine Masters Ytube video on denting headers vs. power output. Later, Murf Sent from my Z936L using Tapatalk |

Here is damage to my headers caused by a chassis dyno. I had no idea until I changed the oil. I looked at my log book for before and after performance and there was no discernible difference at all. Not even to the thousandth of a second.

I would reccomend pypes Racepro also, really quiet at cruise, but you hear it when you lay into it.
Used to have dual flowmaster 40 series , after changing to 2.5" pypes sgf11r with x-pipes the only thing i hear at cruise is tire noise and the rocker arms working, unreal difference.

There's a shop in Mustang, Oklahoma that repairs headers. The Nascar folks send them their best power making headers to repair after getting wrecked.... Have not talked to them in a while. Jim Hand's nephew works there, or may be part owner..........

How does that even happen on a chassis dyno?? Was that done with some odd way they strapped it down? I believe the no discernible performance difference at all. The pipes don't appear to be completely crushed and many people throughout the years would "clearance" headers to fit. I think everyone by now has seen the video of Freiburger smashing headers on a dyno to measure the difference, they hardly found any change. Last edited by Formulajones; 03-30-2018 at 11:36 AM. |

Where did you see that? Is there a video?

Because the dents are on the sides of the headers. I'm just guessing.

Wow, thanks for the explanation Taylor. I would never have guessed something like that. I've never seen a chassis dyno with vertical plates.

The Race Magnums are being replaced with Super Turbos today. I look forward to hearing the difference once done (and maybe hearing my radio and any conversations as well!)

So far, so good. It was only a 5 mile drive home and I had the top up, but the exhaust tone is notably quieter...not quiet, but quieter! I like it. I didn't get over 45, and didn't really have a place to really get on it yet. Walking around the car, the tone is definitely more tame, not near as throaty, but still aggressive.

I currently run Goerlich Xlerators with a 2.5" mandrel bent x-pipe system with full tailpipes. Zero drone. Nice sounding idle. Pure sound at WOT. They are not the most exciting but quite frankly deliver performance without sounding terrible.
Two best sounding systems that I ever had were 2.5" Flowtech Terminators on my '70 GTO, and also some Flowmaster 2.5" 50-series (25 years ago) on my GP. Everybody, everywhere complimented me and wanted to know what exhaust I was running when I had the Flowmasters on my basically stock GP. On the street you want recognition, but at the track who gives a rats turd what it sounds like.

Sound and comfort on the street are the priorities for us. We don't want something that drones or is so loud that it attracts attention for a 6 block radius.
At the track if flow is a concern, a pair of cutouts will fix that |
