Ok, you the man. Now explain the engine option to me, I thought it was always going to be an LS2? Or at least early it was going to be the LS2 and then rumor it was the LS6? Or do I have the backwards?
Also, the 05 will look like the Autocross or not exactly?

I tried to follow the link to GM press releases that started this thread on 6/11 and got the following message:
The page you were looking for was not found, or is not available. Please return to the GM Media Online homepage.

I poked around online and found the following specs that seem to have been copied form the page:
What’s new for 2005
LS2 6.0L engine replaces LS1
400 horsepower (295 kw)
395 lb.-ft. of torque (546 Nm)
Available hood with twin air scoops
Revised rear fascia incorporating outlets for new split dual exhaust system
Polished exhaust outlet tips
Larger brake rotors and calipers
Red-painted calipers with GTO logo on front caliper
Driver foot rest
Two new colors: blue and grey
Model Lineup
Engine Transmissions
6.0L V-8
redline 6500rpms

Does that sound about right based on what anybody saw before GM took the page down?

Any info on '05 pricing yet vs. the '04? I don't really give a crap about the engine since I'm a gearhead and modify them anyway (MagnaCharger already has a 130 hp bolt-on supercharger kit for the GTO for sale), but none of the available colors appeal to me at all. Something dark and understated would be nice, but not if I have to pay 5 grand extra for it.

This sketch shows what Performance West Group has suggested to Pontiac management for the 2005 Pontiac GTO. PWG calls it "The Tiger King." The following enhancements, it says, infuse this vehicle with character from the Pontiac gene pool:
• 1968 GTO-inspired twin nostril hood flanking classic Pontiac "ironing board" raised center
• "Tiger Gold Pearl" House of Kolor paint
• 18-in. "Tribute" wheels by Oasis inspired by original Hurst wheels
• Stainless steel 3-piston "Tri Power" calipers and 14-in. slotted rotors
• Kenne Bell supercharged 5.7-liter V8 engine
• Hurst Competition Plus shifter for 6-speed manual transmission
• Exhaust splitters by Year One
• "Off the shoulder" roll-and-pleated leather parchment interior by Katzkin

I am sure a flat aftermarket hood would be really cheap to buy, if availiable.

Well, judging by the f-bodies, the hood scoops are generally an option. Personally, I think things like hood scoops, wings, and air ducts usually end up making the car just look ricey. Putting a scoop in the middle of the hood serves absolutely no purpose - even if it actually functioned, air would most likely come OUT of it because the center of the hood is a low pressure area. Why do you think the NASCAR boys have their intakes at the bottom of the windshield?

It's called cowl induction. Works well, and has for years.
Hood scoops are mostly mostly cosmetic, but, when done right, they do work...
