Default Hooker Super comp D-ports and 4 speed?

I have a 77 Trans Am that I am installing a 4 speed from another 77 Trans Am into. I also wanted to install the headers that I have at the same time which are the 1 3/4" D-port Hooker super competition headers for a 70-81 Trans Am. Am I going to have any header issues with this 4 speed install?

I can't answer your question directly, but High Performance Pontiac magazines latest issue, March 2008 issue, had a excellent article dealing with just what you want to know. John.

Not sure if this helps you at all but I have Super Comps in my Ventura with a 4 speed and no issues.

Ran Super Comps for years on a 71, not problems. I know there's some generic notes that come with them that mention a few mods that 'may' be required, but I never had to do any.

I've run super comps in my 76 T/A w/455 and a ST-10 4 speed for 20 yrs. and several engine removals. No mods were required @ all. However, if you plan on running a scattershield (highly recommended on any powered up 455) then some minor "flange" mods are necessary( easier prior to eng. install). Larry

Ah, trim a blow-proof, that may be true, I usually trim mine off from like 4 o'clock to 8 o'clock. Maybe around where the clutch rod goes may need triming too. No biggie though...

In using a Lakewood Scattershield yes! Notch the clutch rod area. One also needs to trim the flange to fit a standard oil filter past the guilty header tube (or use a narrow filter like NAPA's #1522 instead). Larry
