Replace the tire.
Sounds like a separated belt. K

If the tires are all the same age, then replace ALL the tires
If one has gone bad, the others will not be far behind.
From experience. Unless you enjoy seeing your tire guy every month....... Good luck! |

Even new may have a problem. I would take them somewhere and check the spin balance.

Not exaulty what you mean by "duck walk". I assume car moving around. May not be just tires. At your speeds aero and alignment comes into play. A good savy front end man might help out. A good four wheel " race orientated " alignment may help. It did mine.
Might consider a chin spoiler to keep air from under car. I also blocked off my grille opening to keep air out under hood. Talk at ya later.

Did you mean a "waddle" at low speed? Like in a parking lot?

No Kieth. I talked to him last night. He's referring to top end problem of car moving around. He's running radial slicks on his low 9 second 63 Tempest.

My radial slicks are very stable due to being run at a higher PSI. (17-20 PSI) I doubt it's the radial slicks causing the instability. Sounds like Troy is on track.

On my near new drag radials my car was rocking pretty darn hard about 60 ft out.
One of the tires had a large amount of weight to get it balanced, I think the tire may have spun on the wheel and made the balance really bad. I pulled the double adjustable shocks off and removed the springs and found one shock was way easier the compress. Adjusted the soft shock till it felt almost like the other and it helped a bunch but the rear still wobbles around. But sometimes its worse then others but this has been on the street. |

I had a similar problem with DRs at the top end, for me it was too low a psi. It got kinda scary at the big end. I actually did better times with more psi too.
4-links eat right rear shocks, bags help. But on my '71 a-body, the right rear shock lasts about half the miles of what the left one does. .

I talked to Randy Peer last night as well. He sent the Hoosier tires back to Summit, they gave him a new set, still does the same thing at the 1/8th mile (115 mph). Had to abort the run. 19 psi. ??

Granted my 10 second runs are not the same, but my 2 sets of Hoosier radial slicks as well as DR were much more stable at speed than my bias slicks were even running 12s.

Alot of the quicker Street cars over here get 'radial rock' at the top end, usually around 170mph, doesn't seem to be a cure for it.
