Default Oil residue on crank pulley

I've been taking my '66 GTO out for shorter drives here & there now that I'm nearly finished with restoration. I've got about 70 miles on the clock, and the test drives have been fairly uneventful, which is a good thing. The car is performing flawlessly, almost...

After most drives, I've been getting underneath the car and checking everything that needs checking. Evertything is looking good, except today I noticed what looks like oil residue on the front of the crank pulley. The back side of the crank pulley where the crank snout exits is BONE DRY. What gives? Can oil creep up the threads of the crank bolt somehow?
