Battery Draining problems

Hello Everyone,

I have a 455 olds in my 79 T/A I can't keep a charge on the battery though!!

New starter, new alternator, new battery, new cables, and every other part that throws power.

I tested all these parts and they are throwing proper current.

I can charge the batter and start the car fine. but after sitting for about 3 hours the battery gets too low to crank.

Any Ideas where I should look?

To kill the battery in 3 hours there has to be a hell of a drain. Forget the radio or interior lights. Check the brake lights and see if they are staying on. You have something that draws a lot of amps. Start checking for something that is staying on.

Bad diodes in the alternator can make it drain back fast. To check easy & fast, unhook the batt ground wire. if you get a spark you have current.then unhook alt wires. if spark are gone when you touch ground wire to post, the alt is the problem. If no spark then the next step is to get your batt load tested.Maybe it's just hooped & won't hold a charge.

I never noticed because I was always up front.
