Do it. You'll like it. I have a 69 c-10. Stock 400, chevy 400 trans with adaptor and 4.10 gears. I have 11" converter to install but right now I got sidetrack into another project, mostlly B-man fault. I used motor mounts from a ventura and made my own brackets. Hope this helps.

I have been told that the frame mounts for the 6 cyl chevy work great with the early A-body engine mounts. I have not done it, only been told by others who have.

i had the straight six motor mount perches that came with the truck but i have never liked modifing old brackets. I wanted a cleaner look so i started from scratch. still gotta get ahold of a digital camera.

Well after a long while i finaly installed the motor and trans! Instead of building up my 428 i bought a complete running 461 stroker with a built transmission for $2,000. It will be a while before its up and running, i still have to finish the fuel system and wire the truck. I have to learn how to resize the pics and then i will upload them.

getting closer to starting it, have to finish up the cooling system and ignition, I just bought "coy" c-5 rims, the flat black ones, they look awsome on the truck!! Pictures soon to follow

Just came across your thread. I have done it twice so far. First was a 74 GMC and I put the large bolt pattern snowflakes on it. The second one was a 69 long box GMC. Put a 455 in that one. The wife enjoyed the one wheel peal on that one. Your project sure looks like a class act.
