Am I one of only 2 people on this planet that knows anything about a very special 389 engine with the date code B11 5 cast on all the major cast iron parts of the engine except the exaust manifolds, I could not find a date code on either of them?
I was told a little about this engine, by someone who was looking to buy a block I had advertised for sale back in about 1999. I had it listed for $600 back then, and he asked why I had it listed for so much money.
I explained that it was freshly rebuilt and bored .030 over, and barely had 500 miles, if that on it. And I explained why I abandoned this block for a different one so soon after rebuilding the first one.
I think he instantly knew, based on my story, that I had found one of the very rare engines that he was actively searching for.
He referred to the engine as a "Firebaugh Nickle and Dime" engine, "Hard as a Nickel and Shiny as a Dime".
