I don’t see why line boring would necessarily be needed. I’d get some caps off a junk rear and install them with bearings and races see how they fit the rear should be inline with the axle bearings...

I've used Strange billet aluminum caps on GM 8.5" and 12-bolt rears and they work great. Just need assembly, ID measurement and possible machining.

#15 heads from a 1970 455 are not too bad for a little more compression either. Supposed to be 87 cc. Just have press in studs though.

I just obtained a repop hood for cheap. OEM scoop does not fit. Also, the under bracing has 2 square cutouts that the OEM hood did not have. Slight depression in the scoop area as other have stated....

If you find an actual 65 hood in mint cherry condition , it is probably worth the extra price.
65 didn't have the front hood emblem crest.
66 hood is a good alternate too.
