Any idea how many Liberty Blue Judges were produced? And also Gold ones. I have one of each and don't think I've seen another Gold one anywhere. I'm sure there are others but I don't know how many.

1969 Ram Air 06-28-2004 04:20 PM

I have seen a breakdown by color for the '70 Judges, but not for '69. I almost bought a antique gold Judge a few years ago. They are out there in just about every color.

SpartanMSU 06-29-2004 10:05 AM

There's never been a breakdown for 1970 Judges, just for total GTOs.

Liberty Blue is most likely the second most popular color in 1969 for a Judge. There also was a gold Judge in an issue of Musclecar Classics years ago. I think it was Champagne.

RAIVJUDGE 06-29-2004 11:04 AM

Spartan is correct no color break down for Judges in 70 just GTO's

1969 Ram Air 06-29-2004 12:21 PM

Total 1970 Breakdown

Starlight Black 1,515

Jimmy, my father is restoring a liberty Blue 69 Judge. You should post a picture of yours, I know he checks in here every now and then.

Judge Man 07-03-2004 07:22 AM

Spartan is right Liberty Blue is the second most popular color for the 69 Judge HT.My research has come up with 411 Liberty Blue cars. You mention a Gold Judge also:Judge HT in Antique Gold-44,Champaigne-1.These numbers aren't one hundred percent correct because I cant predict how many have been distroy, how many are lock away in barn's,garages ect.But these numbers give you a better idea on how rare a Judge is by its color.I hope this helps.

Sixty7Goat 07-07-2004 12:24 PM

Where did you get the info that there was 411 of them?

EBJudge 07-07-2004 02:12 PM

I think that he means that he has found 411 of them, not a total of 411 produced. As he says, "These numbers aren't one hundred percent correct because I cant predict how many have been distroy, how many are lock away in barn's,garages ect."
Judge Man, how many Expresso Browns have you found? I think you told me once that it was the third rarest color that you'd found.
Seeing how few Champaignes you've found is surprising to me, I'd thought that you would have come across more. Not that I've seen any...

Judge Man 07-07-2004 04:04 PM

I started out looking through books and mags, then looking on websites and registry's.Plus I would check out all the club's out there. When ever I came across a Judge I would write the owners name down, where there from and the year and color of the Judge.Writing down the owners name and where they were from was key to my research because there would be the same owner and car in to differant websites or registrys. This would save me writing there name down twice, which you dont want to do.I'm not saying that I have every Judge documented but I have about 70-80% of them on note pads for each year. From there I did a educated guess.Alot of you might disagree with me doing that but the totals I have is better than what we have now which is zero.Like I said before these #'s are'nt correct but it give you a better idea on how much rarer your Judge can be by the color.Through out the years Judge's have changed owners, agian not 100% correct.I did this research for my own knowledge, not to impress or make money from anybody.Someone wanted to know how many 69 Judge's were Liberty Blue,so I responded.People can take it or leave it.I look at it this way it did'nt cost me a dime to get the info I have right now.I'm sure not going to wait for someone to fund PHS to do the research.

Sixty7Goat 07-07-2004 04:50 PM

Didn't mean to sound like I was doubting you, that must have taken a long time http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif. I never knew there were that many.

Judge Man 07-07-2004 05:41 PM

I did'nt feal that you were doubting me at all.I just wanted to explain how I came up with these #'s.

EBJudge 07-08-2004 12:33 PM

Oh, OK.
I think that I had misunderstood/misremembered what you had said to me before about your numbers.
I was thinking that they were raw numbers, not projected numbers, sorry.
No, I don't disagree with you projecting how many came in each color, you've got the biggest sample that I know of, so you're in the position to make a more accurate projection of the "Total Produced" of anyone.
Until someone can do the research to get the colors of all of the Judges from PMD or PHS all we can do is make projections based on what we know to exist.

Judge Man 07-08-2004 03:42 PM

Your right, until someone comes up with some concrete #'s it's all an educated guess. It's going to be awhile until someone comes up with the money and man power too fund a project like this.Thats why I decided to do for my own knowledge and reasons.Know if I only had 50-60% of the Judges per year accounted for,I would'nt of done the educated guess.Like I keep saying before these #'s are'nt accurate.
I started doing research on Production #'s on Muscle cars.At the same time I started doing the Judge research,so it took me about 7yrs. to get the info on the colors.Any information is out there you just have to look for it.

SpartanMSU 07-08-2004 07:41 PM

Just be sure you mention that they're estimates. We don't need to see your numbers as fact on the likes of eBay. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif

Judge Man 07-08-2004 09:01 PM

Your right the #'s are estimates not fact.As far as the e-bay thing you mentioned,I dont get were your coming with that.

SpartanMSU 07-09-2004 08:47 AM

Many people on eBay use "facts" that aren't.

Judge Man 07-09-2004 10:16 AM

I see what your saying.I've been telling people that these #'s are'nt correct for as long as I've been doing the research.

Chiefpontiac 12-27-2004 01:57 PM

Here is someone who took the numbers as gospel to boost his price. Looks like it didn't help him sell it though, unless it sold out the back door...

kellerta 02-06-2005 02:00 PM

Does anyone know how many (just estimate) mayfair maize 69 judges their were or just a ballpark number
Reason for asking, I have a chance to buy one that is a documented mayfair maize with a black vinyl top
thanks

Uncle Judge 02-06-2005 03:05 PM

Hello Tom,
Yes, the 1971 Judge was most definitely offered in Lucerne Blue (color code 26). The correct stripe color for this color was Pink, Orange, Blue. This was the best color combo on the 71 Judge in my opinion. The 71 Judges were available in any color that the 71 GTO was in addition to special order colors. I have had a Lucerne blue car with a blue interior undergoing a resto for too many years. One of these days I may get it done.

7 Mayfair Maize HT's.

kellerta 02-06-2005 08:44 PM

thanks judgeman

in your opinoin does this color (mayfair maize)de-value the car

Judge Man 02-07-2005 03:33 PM

In my opion no.I like the color myself I think the value would go up.Expresso brown is another story I dont like this color,it all depends on whos wanting to buy it and what each persons tast is.

1969Judge 02-09-2005 09:11 PM

Judge Man, your estimates are quite interesting. I am trying to gather some production information on '69 Judge converts. How many have you managed to find? I would be interested in seeing a breakdown by color. Do you track anything else on the cars you have found like transmissions, options, interior/top colors, etc?

Scott

Judge Man 02-10-2005 03:31 PM

Hi Scott I dont have any break down with the color of tops or inter. But I have the colors broken down for the verts and the break down of engine and trans.Like I said before these #'s on these colors are'nt 100% correct.

Carousel Red-69
Liberty Blue-11
Matador Red-8
Limelight Green-4
Starlight Black-5
Verdoro Green-4
Palladium Silver-3
Cameo White-2
Expresso Brown-1
Butternut Yellow-1

RAlll Auto-29
RAlll 4speed-55
RAlll 3speed-19
RAlV 4speed-5

1969Judge 02-10-2005 06:19 PM

Judge Man, Thanks for sharing those estimates with me - I found them to be quite interesting. I have had a fascination with the '69 Judge converts for more than 20 years. My goal is to locate as many of these as I can and to document colors, options, etc. to get a better idea of what the breakdowns really were. It is difficult to do this as I am sure you already know.

Over the last 5 years, I have come across almost 50 of these cars. Here are the color breakdowns that I have found:

Carousel Red - 18
Liberty Blue - 3
Matador Red - 2
Limelight Green - 1
Starlight Black - 6
Verdoro Green - 7
Palladium Silver - 2
Cameo White - 3
Expresso Brown - 1
Mayfair Maize - 1
Burgundy - 3
Antique Gold - 1
Crystal Turquoise - 1

So far, I have been able to document that half of these are real Judge converts and I still have a lot of owners to contact. It is interesting to see how many colors they came in. I have some information on transmissions, interior/top colors and options also but it will take me some time to pull that info together. If you are interested let me know and I will post it later.

1969Judge 02-11-2005 09:22 PM

Judge Man, Here is some more info I was able to find. I located these cars (and in many cases talked to the owners) while looking to find one for sale. I took notes on colors, transmissions, options, etc. - basically anything they told me about their car. It was really interesting hearing the stories.

I have to dig through the original notes to pull out more of the details but this is some of what I have. Keep in mind that this is only for the '69 Judge converts...

Body color/top/interior (# known in this combination)
Carousel Red/Black/Black (7)
Carousel Red/White/White (3)
Carousel Red/White/Black (1)
Carousel Red/Black/White (1)

Mayfair Maize/Black/Black (1)

20 cars had 4-speed's, 9 had TH400's and one had a 3-speed and the remaining cars I have no info on. At least two of the cars had an auto on the column and the 3-speed was a bench seat car.

I can also tell you that only a couple of cars were highly optioned (more than 20) while most cars seemed to only have 8 or less. There were even a few cars that had 4 or less options from the factory.

Give me some time and maybe I can pull some more statistics together on options. Some of the things I remember about the options were:

- Not that many cars came originally with hood tachs
- Gauges weren't that common either
- More cars than I expected had open rear ends
- A/C is a rare option on a Judge convert and only 2 TH400 cars and 2 4-speed cars that I came across had it
- The center console seemed to be popular

More later....

Scott

Judge Man 02-12-2005 07:16 AM

The way your doing your research is very simular to the way I did it.Of course I did'nt write the color of top or inter.I just wrote the exter color down. The other info you provided is very interesting,I was curiuos about the hood tach if it was rare or not.Have you been paying attention to how many have hideaway headlights?I would be curious to see how many had hidaways. Thanks again Scott.

1969Judge 02-12-2005 10:01 AM

Judge Man, I don't have as much information on options as I do on colors, but I am always working on getting more. However, of the 20-25 Judge converts that I have option info on, here are some details (as built) on the options you mentioned:

Hideaways (RPO 414) - 7 cars had them
Gauges (RPO 444 & 484) - 9 cars had them
Hood Tach (RPO 471) - 10 cars had them
Console (RPO 472) - 14 cars had them

Hood tachs and hideways were often added to cars that didn't come with them so it is difficult to know for sure, without seeing the PHS docs or the broadcast sheet, what options are original. The numbers I provided (above) are accurate.

One other bit of information I forgot to mention before that I found interesting. Of the '69 Judge converts I found, it seems that almost twice as many were assembled in Baltimore than in Arlington. Very few were made in Fremont. I am sure there are more Fremont cars out there but I just haven't come across them yet.

Scott
