The 572 Straight Valve Killah !!! :)

5 Attachment(s)
... ok guys, the title was more for Kinsler than anything (lol) as that's what he likes to call this thing, maybe I added the straight valve part, lol, but anyways, I wont get into all my bs life drama crap, that has obviously got me behind the 8 ball with this build as most are aware, but many have been asking for info or updates on the 572 CV-1 engine we are building for my 71' Camaro ...

... I wont throw up too much in the first post post, i'll just try to answer any questions that may come up in the thread, and just try to let the pic's show where we are at right now ...

... short-block is going together, stuck in the clearance phase right now, had a few areas that made contact, so out came the die grinder, almost done with that part, the rods are clipping in some areas, but once that's done we'll check for thrust end play, piston to deck, cam phase etc. ...

... there is quite a bit of work yet in the topend of the engine, but the focus right now is the short-block, then we can finish up the seats, guides, valvejob, hand work as all the CNC work is complete, volume test chambers, piston to valve, etc. so the work then can begin on the custom manifold for this build, which looks to be a lot of fun ...

... i'll just throw up some random pic's of what she's looking like right now ...

it's a spread-billet dominator that I sell, and yes, it does help center things up for a spread port layout ...

i had a feelin that you made it. pretty cool

Tom Vaught 06-29-2013 07:55 PM

Very Very Nice Parts there Bill.

So how did you determine the Spread Bore Mount Position vs the intake?
Do some Mondello wet flow testing?

Tom Vaught

Jim Robertson 06-29-2013 08:03 PM

Dang! Cool pieces. Where are you trying to make peak torque and peak HP? Those are some big manifold runner entrances. Best of luck in all your endeavors. Hope to see you at Norwalk.

Jeff Kinsler 06-29-2013 08:10 PM

looking good.. plenty of time to have it at Nowalk.

you and magic man!!!!

think it will make a 1000 HP?

john marcella 06-29-2013 08:17 PM

Bill , GET THIS MFr DONE! This thing has to make some power. Get it done and in the car and get your whinny azz in the lane next to me at Norwalk.:)

... it should hopefully reach in excess of 6000fpm of mps, but we shall see ... basically as close to 8000rpm as it can get ...

... well, it is in the line up, lol, but its very pricey, as it's a full billet carb except the bowls, so I don't sell many of them ...

GREATGTO 06-29-2013 08:37 PM

Looks good for an engine that doesn't exist, must be our imaginations.

mike leech 06-29-2013 08:44 PM

Nice crank. I see you went with the OMNICRON Finish. Pretty nice looking stuff there.

So are the blades close to 2.75" each"?

If they are, the carb will be a bad boy!

Rusty4cyl 06-29-2013 10:26 PM

Your stuff get's done last, My stuff was there 3 month's, and wasn't even looked at. But I guess I wasn't a customer, or my stuff would have been done FIRST. Silly me, what was I thinking ? :D

You just gotta love drag racers. They will do anything for a fellow racer just so they can try to stomp them on the drag strip. :D

Hammertime Mike 06-30-2013 07:51 AM

Nice avatar Bill. Keep picking at her. Looks like you got the parts now to get that 572 together. Should be some serious H.P.

slowbird 06-30-2013 10:11 AM

Some REALLY nice parts here. Have a feeling she'll put up a number.
Agree with the others Get-r-Done.

T Syron 06-30-2013 11:00 AM

Good luck with build Bill. Looks very promising.

Tom Syron

T Syron 06-30-2013 11:04 AM

It looks like two different tunnel rams, one sheet metal and one cast. Will you be testing them both on the 572?

Thanks,
Tom Syron

... no, the cast tunnel ram was for something else, I just had the tent-top on it for a picture, the Billet Runner mock up is the one being used for the 572 ... obviously I still need to finish it ... :(

I got a converter for you to. 9.5 , it went 6100 against my 438 cid motor. Its not right but will get you out. The trans is 2.48 first. Its the trans I had at norwalk last year. Its got a Ultra bell and a CSR shield on it to. Not a trick piece but.......

A friend loaned me a trans last year, but at the time he was just barely an acquaintance. I was blown away by that and im just trying to be that same kind of person.

S/st 54 06-30-2013 01:37 PM

Bill, I know of a chassis to put that motor in. Yes it has a Tranny and a very very nice converter.I can have the headers built and we could work out a trade for them.........They would most likely wind up as a set of nice Dyno headers for JMRE.

P.S.Why in THEEEE heck are you talking on the Internet????? GET TO WORK LOL

lemans411 06-30-2013 03:14 PM

looking good bill i cant wait to see some dyno and track time results.

mike leech 06-30-2013 04:04 PM

or wearing the shirt? IF hes done and they race i see a EHTTFMF shirt being worn by a pretty tall cv1 proponent. just sayin

lemans411 06-30-2013 04:21 PM

lol i dont see him wearing the shirt. also im guessing he's gonna make sure the car is ready before he shows up to race, no sense in rushing it and losing because the car isnt properly setup lol
