Inventions/products we could do without
It's been awhile since I have posted anything on this forum. This is a subject I am sure many of you have several thoughts on.
here are a quick few that "bug" me: Whoever invented the stupid kernals used in packing items for shipping. Always a mess and more so if its windy when you open the box. Or they stick to the item in the box. Speed bumps in parking lots. If the roads are not bad enough in my state adding speed bumps in parking lots adds to the thrill. Traffic lite cameras a million dollar or more windfall for some cities. Tough to argue your way out of one of those tickets. So, what invention or products do you think we could do without? [email protected] |
In Minneapolis they ruled that they can't use the cameras to give you a ticket for running a red light. Something about not being able to prove who was driving.

Most anything the government turns over to the the private sector to operate.

I second the speed bumps in parking lots.
There are some around here that aren't straight across the lane, but at an angle, so you have to slow down even more. If not, it's like hitting 4 speed bumps instead of 1. Not necessarily a product, but whomever had the bright idea to make you answer 20 questions at the gas pump before you can start pumping, should be shot. |
Almost anything for the kitchen or related to cooking that is really just a gimmick and does a job (sort of) that is done by other things we already have. Only the stupid Sheeple buy this crap but the rest of us have to endure the asinine TV commercials.
And telemarketers/automated sales calls! I have NEVER purchased a single thing nor even listened to their BS pitches on the phone and don't personally know anyone else who has fallen for that crap either. So why is it still going on? All it does for me is create a negative view of that product or service since I connect it with invading my privacy. The do not call list is a bunch of Government BS too. |
Caller ID has been a godsend for our house where telemarketers and political calls are concerned.

Unfortunately, what they really wanted....more revenue...did not happen. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/10/...dministration/ As for my entry...the earwax vacuum that they advertise on late night TV. The one where the guy sticks a q-tip in his ear and goes..OW! |

Cell phones.

Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors (TPMS) - tire gauges still work fine, are inexpensive, and accurate.
Engine Oil Level Sensors - the dipstick works and is free with purchase Rain Sensing Wipers - are we too lazy to flip a switch and use the variable speed feature? And of course, Traction Control!!!! I was going to say Hollywood and Rock'nRoll after 1980 but I didn't want to start anything :) |

I agree 100% With Greg Reid. Cost a 25 yr veteran ( Full time Fire Captain) his job up here for comments about Muslims and the stuff going on around the world. I have been preaching to guys to watch what you post and it came back to bite him. Ed

I agree about the packing peanuts - they always make a mess...
...and roundabouts - whoever came up with those ought to be slapped |

The larger markets will get a JFCAAPD,Just ****ing Coffee And A Plain Donut, for folks who didn't grab some food from home. |
Lots of ideas....the tire monitor gizmo..which has been mentioned been replacing them in my Tahoe appearently the battery in them goes dead.
How about the states that require front license plates? I read somewhere that depending on the number of registered cars the savings would be in the millions. Most cars today are not designed for front license plates. The woeful penny that now cost almost twice as much as its worth to make. [email protected] |

Ventless gasoline jugs, or any other green-tard invention.
Fake margarine, or so-called vegetable oil spread.:gag: Automatic door locks on newer vehicles. Seems they don't want to unlock when you park the car most of the time. I'm glad they did away with those stupid motorized seat belts. |

We no longer use the penny in Can, everything is rounded up or down to the nearest nickel. So now when I travel to the U.S I just leave the pennies with whoever is trying to give them to me, they are useless. |
computers in cars.
Breath-a-lyzers that you keep in the car to test yourself before driving. Would anybody really buy and use one of these. |
His and hers individual climate control settings on new cars. Wives usually just set it where they want it anyways.

The one thing that flippen' gets me pissed is the auto up/down windows on my wife's Toyota Avalon. If I touch the down button to crack the window an inch or so, it starts to go ALL the way down,so I hit the switch in the up direction to stop it,and it then continues ALL the way up! The window ends up going up down for 15 seconds as I swear at this POS "luxury" item. Headlights that stay on after the engine is turned off and interior lights that stay on after the door is closed. More annoying crap IMO. Anti lock brakes- I cant think of a single instance where I have ever needed them (even in snow),but it seems like a sensor goes bad on them on EVERY car and truck I own. |
