Bought a '32 Chevy 5-window Deuce Coupe
 

Had a GTO since I was 16. Had many muscle cars and trucks. Closest thing to a Hot Rod was my '55 Chevy Sedan Delivery. I've always wanted a deuce coupe. I just picked this up last Friday. It needs a lot of work. But that's what I wanted. It came with a crazy amount of parts! I'm super excited to work on it and learn. So, I will be selling a pile of Pontiac parts to fund parts for this build. So, watch the high performance parts section if you need stuff.

It came like this. It came with a disc brake conversion kit. I put that on right away. Had to get those tall red spoke wheels off of the front! :) The body work need redone and more done.

Big Time!

I've worked on a few early Ford hot rods from that era. The fun part is, if you are doing a hot rod, you can put everything exactly where you want it It does work out a little cheaper if someone makes a chassis for it. You could also box and brace your current chassis and put a Mustang 2 front suspension on it with rack and pinion, then figure out if you want leaf springs or a 4 link out back. Order a catalog from Speedway, lots of parts in there, even saw a few things that I didn't know were made last time I looked through it.

I thought about a Sprint 6. Would be cool! It came with a fresh rebuilt '68 Camaro 250 6, rebuilt 700r4, and '55 Chevy rear. Motor and trans not fired up yet. The '55 rear supposedly out of 35k mile car. Appears to have 3.50ish gears based on turning the pinion test. The frame has been partially boxed. Also has a new crossmember for the 6 cylinder and trans. It has a drop front axle and disc brake conversion. All steering has been rebuilt. Stock '32 steering box feels tight and smooth. Has parallel leaf springs front and rear. Not gonna put huge power in the thing. Just a sorta mild SBC probably.

I have seen a lot of stuff at Speedway. Catalogue is a great idea. Thanks for the tips!

Congrats! That looks like a fun project for sure.

While I love the 32 Fords, the other brands were also very cool that year. I bought my cousins 32 Dodge DK coupe after he died in 2013 which he bought in 1972.

I remember sitting in the seat of that car in the mid 1970s as a kid in my grandmothers barn when it was yellow. I have been slowly giving it some of my own personality. It has a 1966 Chevy 327 with date matching "fuelie heads". Its not a little Duece Coupe though with a 122" wheelbase due to it originally having a 90 hp straight 8 engine from the factory.

If the build so far accommodates that Chevy inliner, just plug and play. Online sixes bring a unique personality and song to the game.

Old rods with less common engines always stand apart from the never ending small block Fords and Chevies.

It is tempting to run the straight 6. Supposedly has a hotter cam etc. I just doubt that I'll be happy with the power.

I hear ya. Partly why I insisted on a Chevy. I'm a GM man all the way.

Nice Blue Body color. Front discs look great!

I'd be keen to use a late 60's wiring harness for familiarity and reliability, HEI on a PMD engine, preferring the OHC-6, then the 455, and as much overdrive you can get in the transmission and rear combo.

. Then a modern Factory stereo for the fidelity.

Awesome car! Congrats! Build it, drive it, and enjoy! I like the dropped axle and disc brakes, looks good! I've always preferred that set-up versus the M-II and rack on open fender cars like yours. I run a M-II type on my 37, but I have fat fenders so you can't see it. Anyway, great car, enjoy!

Why not keep it all Chevy and inline six? I don't recall the details, but I understand that the "late model" (1990's maybe?) 4-valve Chevy six has great power potential.

It's not out of consideration yet. I have a 90's 350 roller motor under the bench. So will likely use that. I am super curious about how this 6-cylinder would perform in such a light vehicle. But then there's the sound. Sixes just don't have the appealing V8 rumble. The six that came with it is from a '68 Camaro. Supposedly has 305 or 307 pistons. I'd have to look. The two extra, from the set, are in a box. Also supposedly has a HP cam. He's looking for the paperwork. I might try the machine shop also. Was built at Smith Machine Shop in Wichita KS. It's good to have free options! :)

Hot Rod had a feature article on a '37 Chev street machine with the DOHC 4-valve six with a mild-boost single turbo that ran low tens in the quarter. If I remember right, it was basically stock. Anybody remember what issue that was in?

Just needs a few inches off the top. Makes these cars so much better looking. Nothing crazy,,, subtle

I would love a slight chop. I'm not doing it myself. I hate body work. I might ask how much if I pay someone to redo the body and paint.

This was at PY's show I think back in 2018 . It was to me the shows coolest! Someone here will know what happen to it. Good luck with the project and keep us updated.

I really can't stand the six popper. That car will be more fun with the V8. I would add more structure to the frame. :burnout:

I agree. Gotta have some stones! :) Also agreed on beefing the frame. It has some already. Will add more. I'm going to visit a local Hot Rod builder to evaluate and learn. He recovering from an illness currently though.
