Driveshaft length ?

Is a 69-72 Grand Prix the same length as a 68-72 GTO ?
End to end of shaft

Nice chart! Have F bodies on it? My 78 TA is about 48.5" Just remember also the front yoke can change that dimension. A stock trans yoke and a TH 400 measured different than the MW yoke did.

Good info John, thanks.
Now how far should the yoke be sticking out of the tranny ?

Bottom out the yoke and pull it back by 1” then measure with the car’s full weight on the suspension.

Question about the chart........

John,

Is this chart straight out of the dealer's parts department book??
If so, do you know the year of the book?

johnta1 02-02-2024 08:41 PM

It's out of the 1970 service manual.
The 1978 didn't have the lengths. It did have the pinion angles and stuff.
(also the 1972 didn't have it I think)
I haven't looked at the parts book, yet.

All good info. Now I'm looking to have a new driveshaft made. Any recommendations ?
