Install Remote Solenoid - Instructions

Could someone point to me a link on the steps to install a remote solenoid? I have a stock 68 GTO and am trying to solve my hot start problem.

Thanks

I went through the same hot start problem with my 69'. I went to a high tork mini starter, that crapped out real quick. Finally I bought a stock style starter and rigged a heat shield to keep the heat off the solenoid. I have no problems starting the car even after running for over an hour. I did the research on the remote solenoid and seemed it was more trouble than it's worth.

Here is what I ended up doing to correct my hot start problem. It worked perfectly on my factory starter. Full 12 volts to original starter. Cranks every time. I have the relay switch bolted to the bulkhead just under the voltage regulator. At some point when I retire I’ll chase down where I am losing voltage in the old wiring (I have a feeling it’s the bulkhead connector).

Here’s what I did to have a full 12v to factory starter. Some day I’ll track down where I’m losing voltage but for now no hot start problems with original starter/solenoid. I ram new purple wire off the neutral safety switch to a relay.
