I am switching my standard door panels for deluxe in a 68 FB. I recently picked up the deluxe regulators and door handle hardware. How do I swap them? Is this a two person job since the window needs to be supported during the swap of the regulators? How does the door handle mechanism on the deluxe work since it doesn't clip on (similar to a window crank) like the standard door handle does? I'd appreciate some advice since the books don't offer much help.

It's really quite simple to do, but complex to explain. When you get the doors apart, you'll see just how simple it is.

I've done many window regs without help. Don't take apart anything related to the window guides. Just remove the regulator itself with the window mostly down so it doesn't drop hard into the door.

The door handle screws onto the pull mechanism with two phillips screws.

The regulators are actually different from std to delux? How about on a 67?

The 68 and 69 custom door trim panels are thickly padded. Same for Camaro. That requires a longer shaft to keep from the crank handle chewing up the panel. I believe it's just the door units, though. The rear quarter panels are not any thicker than standard.

You would think it would be easy for them to make an extension to the window crank so that you didn't have to change regulators at all. Does the window need to be adjusted once the switch is made?

Bringing this to the top AND wanted to know if upgrading a 67 to delux requires new regulators?

Any pics of 67 delux interior? Mine is standard interior and I am also changing the color so may as well do it all at once.

I don't think the 67 had a different length regulator shaft.

Extensions? Won't work. There's no way to attach such a device.

Regulator replacement does not require removing or adjusting the glass, as the glass runs in two vertical tracks. A horizontal track affixed to the lower part of the glass is the only connection of regulator and glass, and can be removed with the glass still in the verticals.
