For anyone who is interested, I just replaced my tired old rear coils with new MOOG CC611 coils originally designed for a 1977 Cadillac Fleetwood. The lower spring pad needs a little very minor re-work, but I gained 3 1/2 inches instantly. They are also 1/8" larger in rod diameter than the LeMans OEM coils were. I haven't tried to install my KYB gassers yet but the height is exactly what I was looking for without having to go the stupid airshock route. It really is a nice look. Now I have to install my new Moog front coils. Maybe my height will no be as noticeable once they are in. Bounce is considerably stiffer as well with the bigger diameter coil rods. Just my experience for anyone looking at a similar upgrade.

That is exactly where mine sits. I don't have the gas tank in it though so it should come down a bit. I figure once my new front springs go in, it will be more balanced.

"CC" in the part number means "Cargo Coil", which is the the term for the longer-than-stock spring design needed for hauling heavier-than-stock weights.

the cc is actually supposed to be a variable rate spring. not necessarily longer. it is designed to give a smooth ride unless heavily loaded, and sit at or near stock height. they are sometimes called 'comfort coils'. the top coils are supposed to be closer together than the lower ones.

neither of those pictured appear to be variable rate though...

Would these fit on a 67 GTO???

right spring is moog "firm" ride, maybe set my car 1/2 to an inch over stock ....left is eaton custom size, great for those needing tire clearence but ride very firm/ do not know what else they will fit but will take measurements.

The CC611 coils for the Caddy were no taller than my stock springs when they were out of the car and sitting on the ground. The Caddy springs were 1/8" larger in diameter and offered a considerably firmer ride, but not too hard. I think the larger dia. compensates for the same length.

4slash6, do you still have these "tall" springs for sale?? I have a 67 GTO and I'm looking for an extra 2 or so inches in the rear. Would these fit my 67??

I've never replace rear coils before.. but from what I've heard.. is it true that all you have to do is jack up the rear differential, set the frame on jack stands, remove the bottom mount of the rear shocks, let the rear suspension back down and they will just fall out???? Is there no mounting bolts or anything??? If so.. sounds like an easy mod. Can't wait to see how these Eaton Springs will look!!

That is correct. Just jack up the rear and remove the lower shock bolt. Lower the rear all the way down. If it is a little tight pull down on the rear end at the drums to tilt it a little and pull or jack up one end. The spring should pop out with a little tug. Just got my 3.55 12 bolt in.

Hey Slash... OK.. I got the springs.. but man.. these are HUGE!!!! I couldn't even get them into the car!!! I had the axle lowered as low as it could go with out taking off the upper control arms and I was still a good 4 inches away from getting them into position. My Jack stands were as high as they could go!!! I am going to have to send these back to you. I will try to get these back into the mail by Friday. I really appreciate you taking the time to send them out. I wish it could of worked out. You have been great!!!

hey brian, sorry they did not work out for ya, dont worry about any extra shipping,...I remember when I put them in I used my floor jack to lift car then a hydraulic jack between the frame & axle, this jack opened up the gap & I was able to use a crow bar as a shoe horn to install. have a great day http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_cool.giftom

I had a similar problem putting new springs in my 66 Lemans, I assume the new graphite bushings I installed, took all the slop out of the suspension. I used spring compressors to get them in, they gave me the clearance i needed!
