What is the going rate for a running but worn 455, including brackets, some accessories, and pulleys? Does the price differ with points vs. HEI?
Is there much demand for these guys? |

I've paid as little as $150 Block
$500 for a block, crank, TRW pistons |
Hi,
I paid $300.00 for a complete engine( '70 YH) with accessories (Dist, coil, waterpump, alternator, A/C pump, starter, power steering pump, carb and int & exh mainfolds). Mike |
I guess most of the action must be in the 400 cid motors. I kind of figured the 455's weren't moving too fast.

455's are getting rare and there is a big demand because Pontiac motors are interchangeable in the sense that a 455 can easily be made to fit where a 326/350/400 fitted (not sure about 389 and 428) and a 455 will easily make a ton of streetable power. If I were you, I would grab it. If the "Frozen Wastelands" is Canada, then the above squared. I had a helluva job finding a 455 up here, and paid big bucks for it.

i just paid 500 for a running 455. it is still in the vehicle, so with the taxes, tags, and reg it is closer to 625. still, it is a running unit and i was able to assess its condition, which i think is a big plus. with a running unit you also get the carb and the accy's. yes, they are getting hard to find.
