Folks,
Replacing the engine compartment harnesses in my 70.....what's the best way to clean the receptacle? Q-tips, contact cleaner spray? As well, is there a type of grease or spray that needs to be applied before they are connected? Thanks a bunch Brent |

pepper,
i just changed mine out and didn't use anything. no problems. just make sure all the prongs are the same length. when i got my 67 it had an auxiliary starter button under the dash. Previous owner said it was like that when he got it. evidently, someone pulled on the engine side of the harness and pulled the prong out from the terminal. just enough that it didn't make contact. unless your contacts look corroded, i don't think you need anything on them. david |
Also make certain the wiring is correct. I replaced the harness in my 70 GTO and a couple of the wires were swopped going to the voltage regulator and my battery kept dying. It took a while to figure out.

Good info guys, thanks.
