I need to replace the old valley pan on my '66 GTO 389. The old one has a hole for the pcv. Also, the driver side valve cover has a filler cap and the passenger side valve cover is solid. Where can I get a replacement for this, and is this engine vented properly?

If I remember my old class in pollution controls correctly, there should be two air paths. During driving conditions when there is manifold vacuum, the PCV valve will pull air from the engine preventing acidic conditions from occuring in the oil. A seperate breather provides an air path through the engine, sort of like scavenging air.

Under WOT conditions, the PCV valve seats, blocking the air passage and the breather tube provides a path to vent any pressure buildup in the crankcase.

Are the valve covers the factory originals?

To the best of my knowledge, they are the correct valve covers for a '66 GTO - 389.

Sorry, but I don't know much about goats, you might want to post a question over in the appropriate year GTO forum.

You setup sounds almost like the old breather tube cars, solid valve covers with a breather tube near the back of the block to vent gases from the crankcase but I can't ever remember seeing one with a PCV valve.

If you are looking for an aluminum valley pan with a PCV provision, Pontiac Dude sells them, I have one for my T/A.
