I am about to remove a 1978 305 chevy (170hptruck motor yech http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif!) w/300 trans from my 67 bird and install a 400pontiac 425hp w/th400 transmission. I am wondering if there are going to be any nasty suprises on the engine mounts or transmission crossmember. the rear appears to be a stock 10 bolt posi and i have a short shaft 400 xmission. please advise http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_cool.gif

I just did this switch. You will need Pontiac motor mounts and mount brackets(any 67-69 F-bird motor mount brackets will work), a TH400 crossmember (found on e-bay for about $50), TH400 driveshaft slip yoke, and have the driveshaft shortened about 1/2-3/4 if an inch.

69 Firebird, FINALLY installed the Pontiac 469.
