I just bought a 67 GTO rustbucket, but it has 2 sets of rocker stainless in the trunk. The one has small holes in the side that were obviously used to hold it to the rust and one must have had a nice dent that someone hammered into a mess. Can either of these be repaired. One of the nice ones is factory knurled along the doorsill and doesn't have a lip for mounting. Is this worth anything more than the others? Thanks for any help.

67 bd; what you have is yhe 1st run of rocker trim i.e. no mnt holes in door area, there was warr. complants on the trim rattleing thus the 2nd rocker was offered, if one was doing a dated, proper, concorese car ,then the 1st one would have to go on,not really worth anymore or less in my oppion. robert

When I bought my 67 I had the same problem . Someone drilled holes in the rocker stainless and screwed them to the car . I took them to a local welding shop and had them Tig weld the holes shut . Then very carefully I filed the weld down flush with the mldg . After that a friend sanded the mouldings with 80 , 220 , and 400 with a DA sander .
He then went through the long process of buffing them with different compounds and buffing wheels .It takes many hours to do this and is very messy also .The results are fantastic . The mouldings are still on my car today and you can't tell they were repaired .

Thanks all. This car came with doubles of all the stainless, and all but 1 of the peices has holes. Like I said, he had to screw this stuff to puddy only.

The reproductions of these moldings are due out this winter. I saw the prototype and it looks excellent. It is the late style. Price will be around $175/ea. just to give you an idea on whether it's worth repairing yours or getting the repros.
