i was running at 210f with one 1650 cfm 14" fan and a milodon water pump on my 455, well i grabbed a 2950cfm hp prema cool fan also 14" to go next to it, and wow!!!! i dropped from 200-215 to 160-170, just like that

funny thing is both fans are 14" perma-cool but the 1650 stanard cost 103 in jegs and the high performance model only cost 94 for a 2950, why oh why didn't i buy the hp to start with.

how do you have them wired to go on? Via switch or thermostatically. I had an aux electric fan in my GTO and a thermostatic switch that sat on top of the battery, it shorted out in a week.

I'm getting ready to use a dual fan setup from an 97 LT1. Does anyone know what the CFM rating for these fans are??

ok here is some info

1. i have two seprate fans one 14 standard fan i bought a few months back which alone had me running at 210 i then added a hp fan right next to it, this dropped me to 165-175.

2. both are o the same rely activated by a swith under the dash.

3. the stand perma cool 14" draws 8 amps, the newly added hihh performance perma cool 14" fan draws 9.5 amps.

4. the fans are side by side i have a 28" rad and two 14" fans that cover the whole rad.

Do you think it was just the fact that you added more volume with a 2nd fan?
Or do you think the higher volume fan, mounted centrally, would do the job?
I'm going with a 4-core, but want the added insurance of a fan when i hit traffic. My highway temps are OK now, and hopefully will improve slightly with a 4-core, but those thraffic stops are killers and with a fan I would have another option besides pulling over and popping the hood in 90+ Virginia heat.

I was thinking about running 2 Mark VIII fans. 9000 cfm is good, but the 200+ amps at startup and almost 70 amps continuous kinda killed the idea. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif

i'd like to answer you, but my single 18" (9-10amps) perma cool fan is not installed yet. waiting for some parts to complete install.

Three questions: 1)Are these in place of the stock fan? 2)Can you mount this fan in front of the radiator? 3)What would you call this fan a pusher or a puller? Joe

for my install, the fan replace the mecanic one and mounted as a puller, 'cause it move more air than the pusher.

yes you can mount it in front.

puller fan is behind the radiator (between rad and motor).
pusher is in front of radiator.

Would a simple wiring hook up do? Say a switch and a tap off the existing fuse box. I'm not sure how much draw the 14" fan uses?????

How big of a fan is too big?
 

I plan on putting this Jegs fan in front of my radiator. Is there room for say the 16' version of this fan? It will sit dead center and push the air through the radiator into the stock fan. Anyone have some info? Thanks, Joe
