I have a 78 firebird with a 400cu engine. I am installing guages and don't know where the oil pressure sending unit is so I can hook up a mechanical one... Not the most mechanically minded individual...LOL
Thanks for your help!!

The factory oil pressure sender is screwed into the back of the oil filter adapter, just above the oil filter itself. Right where it's conveniently hard to reach....... http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif

Thanks, thats where I thought it was but it did not look like it unscrewed so I can put the autometer threaded adapter in.

The best place to get the oil pressure is on the distributer pad. There is a plug that takes a 5/16 square drive to get out. I chased a Snap On truck down the road, to get a socket for taking one out.

You can also remove the filter adapter from the block to make it easier to attach your fittings, it comes off by removing 3 bolts. All you'll need is a $2 gasket to put it back on.
