Does anyone know of a web site or book that has the flow numbers for various stock Pontiac heads. In particular I am looking for the numbers for 1968 #16 heads on my 400.

Almost all the D-ports flow within a couple CFM of each other. I would say around 185+- CFM on the intakes.

Keep in mind that these numbers are flowed at 12 in. hg. Is there a reliable conversion factor to 28 in. hg ?

The above flowbench tests should be interpretted as a comparison of the heads that were analysed at the time. They were originally tested at 12". Conversion of these figures to 28", & subsequent comparison will have some scratching their heads, wondering "what if" all of the heads tested had been tested in #1 shape.

If your heads are ones that were shown as #2 condition or #3 condition (the '71 HO's) in the above tests... might do as I did, & pay to have several sets of near identical #1 condition heads flowed on a Superflow 600 at 28", you will get a far more accurate result.

The conversion factor that was used in the "for beginner's" simulated dyno test was 1.2333

Unchained, I flowed a few pair of stock D-ports at 28" on a Superflow 600. The intakes flowed 210 cfm, the exhausts flowed 160 cfm.

As they said above that article in HPP is good for comparisons of those heads tested. ven converting their 12" numbers come no where close to any numbers I have even gotten.

Conversions from 12" HG are inaccurate. If you want useable flow figures, it should be done at 28" HG. That's where a V-8 engine spends most of it's time while actually running- and that's the figure most shops insist on using for the past 20 years.
