one question....will a 5.0 pontiac engine from a 88 firebird bolt up to a 88 chevy 4x4 pu???? what changes are nessecary???/thanks Terry

there was no Pontiac motors produced for Firebirds after 81, just Pontiacs with various GM motors, Firebird in 1988, it is a 305 chevy motor

Yes it will bolt up as they both are Chevy engines. You might have to use the intake and TBI injection from the pickup though.

Some of the 305's I've seen have a sizable weight on the flexplate and when its used on a 350 causes a nasty vibration. Im guessing 305's are externally balanced?

In 1988, I believe they changed the balancing on all SB chebbies. They did this a the same time they went to the one piece rear seal. If you stay within the same years the 305 and 350 flywheels interchange.

I put a 1989 305ci firebird engine in my 1983 truck.
Bolts right in, had to swap the flywheel for a new
flex plate, modify my `83 q-jet intake to fit the
heads, used my 83 distributor(w/MSD of course)truck runs great.
