Fat Cat: I'm not a 100% sure but you may be able to use some 67/68 stuff on your 65 !! Most parts break point is 59-64 & then 65 & up.....

What rotors are you using?

I think Scarebird has a setup for 65/66. You can do the Scarebird setup for less than what you would pay for a set of pontiac rotors, that is if you can find a set...nobody makes them anymore and the NOS rotors that show up on eBay every once in a while go for over $400.

Nice job Jeff, and thanks for the detailed pics and shopping list. Did you upgrade the rear brakes like you planned? Like Troy, I now have an alternative to my 8-lugs, although it would be tuff to get rid of them :( .

Pitts, what size tires are you running on the fronts now? I have 235\75\15 all the way around which look like crap and scrub on turns, thinking 225\70's will fit\ride much better.

I'm reading step 7 of my Scarebird instructions. Apparently stock lug studs can be too short or have knurls that interefere with a flush rotot/hub fit. Did you have to replace studs or countersink/drill out the rotor side stud holes?

I did the same conversion on my 62 Bonneville, and I did change out the wheel studs on the hubs. If memory serves, there was a recommendation in the instructions I got from Scarebird. Got 10 Dorman wheel studs and had them pressed in when the machine work was done on the hubs. It also gets rid of the left hand threads.

Disc brake conversion
 

I have a 64 GP. This weekend I found a 1974 Trans AM at the local Pick a Part. I took the Snowflake wheels, with spinners and the front brake set-up. The brake setup included spindles, calipers, rotors etc.

I originally was going to sell the brake set up on e-bay, but will they fit my car. I currently have 8 lug wheels.

I have the space saver tire listed on e-bay currently.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Can someone update this? The first post no longer has a parts list or instructions. I'm trying to find out what parts I need to update a '63 Cat with manual drums to power disc brakes.
