Intake Gasket installation
 

Probably a pretty basic question, but what is the best material to use when trying to keep a intake gasket from moving during intake installation. Just want to make sure the gasket doesnt move at all, and that the product I use will not effect the intake gasket form sealing properly. Any advice would be great.

use the plastic inserts that come with the gaskets
top holes front and back, thats what they are there for. usually orange color in a little paper envelope. you will see a corresponding countersunk area around the bolt hole in the head

I bought Mr Gaket gaskets and they do not have the plastic inserts

Lacking the locating bushings that are included with Fel-Pro intake gaskets, apply a small amount of RTV around the water crossover ports and the rear of the gaskets, and stick the gaskets in place on the heads. Also RTV the rubber "O" ring that seals the intake to the timing cover in place on the intake. Once the RTV has set up suffciently, install the intake, being careful to not disturb the gaskets.

By the way Performer RPM manifolds say not to use the locaters .

i knwo ive said it many time here but i also make my own triple paper gasket to go in between the intake waterneck and the waterpump housing...keeps the intake from moving too far forward and absolutey no leaks...youll underatnd when you see it...
