Hi all

Been absent as of late. Just installed a beefier front sway bar, a rear sway bar from Fabcraft and the tubular uppper and lower rear control arms from Ramair. The car rides like a dream. Been thinking about converting my rear end to a Safe-T-Track. Is it pretty straight forward and what do I need to look for?

Just need to find one in the ratio that suits you. Very easy swap. You will need a slide hammer to remove the rear axles. Pull them out, then remove entire hogs head/3rd member/pumpkin. Comes out, & if it does not crush you, you put your replacement in. Not the easiest things to find, but they are out there. Check with Indiana Pontiacs & see if he has some.

I like 3.08. Good hwy and street combo I think. I have 3.42, & with a 3 spd auto you just run too high RPM on the Hwy. for a longer trip. Have a 3.23 but have not tried that yet. 2.73 is OK but probably a little to high for a GP.

I wish mine was a 3.08, that would make a world of difference. I'm stuck for now with a 2.41 posi. It works but that will be the first performance upgrade.

A trick for removing the rear axels if you don't have a slide hammer or want to mess with one is
1) remove wheel
2) remove brake drum
3) remove 4 nuts that attach wheel bearing retainer
4) install brake drum back on the axel backwards
5) install wheel stud nuts loose as possible
6) use brake drum as slide hammer
I have used this method many, many times and it is actually faster and easier than using a slide hammer to pull the axels. I was taught this by an "old timer" years ago. Funny now I'm an old timer.

Mike, who did you pick up your swaybar from. When I restored my frame and suspension, I tried installing one of those beefy swaybars sold thru PST. After three weeks of fighting it, I gave up. The fit wasn't even close. PST staff were nice enough to send a return shipping label and a 25.00 coupon for my troubles.

The front bar I ordered through Summit, the rear from Fabcraft via eBay.

I forgot to mention, I initially had one of the rear bars from PST that went between the control arms forward of the rear end. It did not look or feel right.
