Headers for a '67 Bonneville?
Does anyone know what headers I could use for a '67 Bonneville? I searched around and doesn't appear as they exist - I know I have seen headers on big Pontiacs - just need to be pointed in the right direction, thanks, Tom.

Dougs headers are the only ones I know of. I believe they are still available through PY. Just got done installing a set on my 66 and wow is it a tight fit!

I got the Doug's Headers on my original 68 GP. They are a nice and well worth the money. If your car is a column shift car they may not work with the linkage. I have not heard of a column shift car getting them installed so the linkage may give you clearance issues. Pat

I am 90% sure that 1st generation Firebird headers will work in your 67.

I tried a set of Hedman headers for the 67-69 Firebirds and they were not a good fit at all. After driving a bit the passenger side that I did not have to modify was damaged. The drivers side I had to modify two tubes. I know that Hedman's will not work, but maybe some other brands might.
I will say again spend the money on Doug's headers the flanges are much heavier and seal better and they seem like a solid header where the Hedman's were not solid feeling when hanging the exhaust with bad welds where they seal. Even after filing flat I never got them to seal good. Pat |
Yeah, I forgot to mention that the linkage is an issue when switching over to headers. My car was a column shift and I converted it to floor shift.

Has anyone here modified a set to clear the linkage, or can it be done? My '68 GP has the power Strato-bench and I wasn't planning to change it, but I did plan on installing headers on the 428.

You can always go with long branch headers. I found a set on a '68 GP and swapped them over to my Cat. I also did the console shifter at the same time so I don't know about interference with column shift mech. If you do use CI long branch headers you'll need the oil filter adapter too.
I have read the the long branch don't flow was well as true headers, but they are an option. |
I put long branch manifolds on my 67 cat with column auto, no problems with linkage at all.
i did have to get the oil filter adapter, which now leaks though. |
