6 speed tranny in my 79 TA??
 

I have a 79 TA. Just bought a 600HP 454 BBC. Does anyone know if a T56 6 speed transmission will bolt up to this engine. Does anyone know if the shifter will be in the correct location? Is there anyone here that has done it?

Yes it can be made to work with a BBC. I had a 6 speed in my 70 camaro, and used the stock pedals & stock mechanical (non hydraulic) linkage. Worked great.

Is your trans LT or an LS model? It will make a difference. LT trans are easier to make work. Mine was an LS model & I bought a McLeod Industries adapter plate at Summit.

There are a few more things you'll have to figure out. X-member, speedo, and get your driveshaft shortened. Your shifter will be about 4 inche further back than stock location as I recall.
