700R4 Rebuild Kit
Hi.
I´m going to rebuild my 700R4 (1988) tranny and was wondering which of these two rebuild kits I should buy. Is there any other parts that I need to change for it to handle the torque, for example: Different Servo , Clutch Springs etc *TCI Pro Super Transmission Overhaul Kit: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku *TCI Maximizer Rebuild Kit: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku The tranny is going into my 68 Firebird with a Pontiac 350 engine. Horsepower level around 300-320. 95% of the time on the street, no-nitrous. Thanks Johan |
Neither one of those kits has "everything" you will need for a complete/correct rebuild. I would also replace the bushings, thrust washers, and install a molded 3-4 apply piston. You may also consider the larger "Corvette" servo. The 1988 unit has upgraded internals, including the larger low roller sprag and overdrive sprag. You may want to get one of our new books on rebuilding/modifying them, as we cover upgrades and rebuilding, as well as torque converter selection and retrofitting......Cliff

Ok, great.
I have just ordered the book. Looking forward to read it and learn the right things to do with the tranny. Thank you. /Johan :3gears: |
If you are interested in very complete kits, go to https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/home.php?cat=19 There are several to choose from. I have been offering these kits for several years, and I am constantly improving on them. Dana
